Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
What are your thoughts & memories of Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith, aka The British Bulldogs?
I honestly don’t have many. At the time that Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith were thriving in WWF, I was an NWA guy and only kept up with New York via the Apter Mags and the occasional Saturday morning program. I’ve seen plenty of their matches on YouTube, and they’re a talented team. Although their backstage antics and life since WWF have made more headlines and cemented their legacy than any actual wrestling, it’s worth noting that their in-ring performances are also noteworthy. They were my wrestling brother, Harold Schwan’s, favorite tag team and that says more about them than any memories I have. They must have been good. RIP Harold.
Do you think Roman Reigns is worth the $15 million per year, even as a part-time performer?
To me personally, no one is worth that much, but if that’s what his contract says and WWE agrees to it, they must feel he’s worth it, At least they did at some point.
Why is Deonna Purrazzo not on AEW programming?
Tony Khan’s booking and the usual distraction by newer and more shiny objects. Hopefully, she’ll be back sooner rather than later.
Rumors are floating around that Mike Tenay may be brought in to help announce When Worlds Collide. It’s nothing official, but just rumors. Thoughts?
I’ve heard the rumors, but as of right now, Saturday morning, all they continue to be are rumors. Tenay is totally removed from pro wrestling, and I don’t see that changing. If Tenay is brought in, it will be a total shocker to me.
Ric Flair has been diagnosed with skin cancer and will begin treatment next week. Thoughts?
Karma is a bitch sometimes. Ric knew it, denied it, and now, after getting criticism for his comments about Jim Ross, Dutch Mantell, and that mock agreement for sexual partners to sign, Ric is announcing it and playing the victim. Same old Flair, always looking for attention. He just needs to concentrate on healing, and as many have already said, just STFU! And put that damn bottle down.
Doug Basham and Chavo Guerrero have both been spotted recently at the WWE PC, guest coaching and working with talents. Thoughts?
Basham also continues to work as a trainer for OVW. Two wrestling icons sharing their knowledge to the next generation. Good for them.
Can somebody explain the Elon Musk and Trump situation in wrestling terms?
Think back to Halloween Havoc ’95 and the tag team match between Sting & Ric Flair versus Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman. Ric was a babyface and his former Horsemen partners had turned on him. He asked Sting for help, and after many misgivings, Sting finally agreed. And in the match, when Sting tagged in Flair, Flair turned on him and rejoined Arn and Pillman as the newly reformed Horsemen. Ric is Elon Musk and Sting is the Dems/Liberal left. Arn and Pillman are Trump/MAGA. Arn and Ric are fighting to lure Sting in. Sting falls for it and gets a beatdown. The Horsemen live again. Musk is luring the Dems in and when the battle happens, he and Trump will show it was a plan, a ruse, and the Dems will look stupid, again.
Seth vs. Punk had the potential to be a generational feud, man—where did it all go wrong?
It’s not over and the rivalry continues, even as they focus on other people. In my opinion, it hasn’t gone wrong at all.
Who’s a wrestler you still think about and go, “Man, what could have been?” Perhaps it was due to injuries, timing, their departure from the company, or simply poor booking.
Zack Ryder was the hottest thing in WWE, but then Cena stole his girl, while Kane threw him down some steps. He was never given the chance for retribution and the support faded. Or Wardlow in AEW. He was on fire in AEW, destroying everyone, and then he just vanished. Six months later, it happened again. Those are just two examples.
When you think of the WWE Divas Championship, who comes to mind?
Former GLOW Champion, and WWE Hall of Famer, Lisa “Ivory” Moretti. She was good in the ring, and on the mic, and was a fantastic character. And a great WWE Diva’s Champion.
