Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions, and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host, guiding light, and the man with the best mullet since Billy Ray Cyrus. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
It’s AJ Styles versus Gunther at the Royal Rumble, and AJ is putting his career on the line. Thoughts?
I was expecting this match to happen, but not quite so soon. It seems rushed and thrown together to give us a solid match for the Rumble. I doubt we’ll have a definite finish, and maybe they can do it again later in the year. It just doesn’t feel right to me.
Natalya turned on Maxxine Dupri. Thoughts?
Hopefully, this means the awful matches between Becky and Maxxine are over. As soon as Natalya appeared, I could feel the heel turn coming. Now Natalya becomes Nattie, and we get some good matches for a change.
WWE Raw was good. Agree or disagree?
Parts of the show dragged, but for the most part, except for the excessive commercials, it was a good edition of RAW. That main event was damn good.
Bully Ray claims that Vince McMahon is the best play-by-play announcer in wrestling history. Agree or disagree?
I don’t agree, but I get why Bully feels that way. It’s the same reason Eric Bischoff was good in WCW. Who better to tell the stories correctly while calling the action than the person who created the stories? Vince was good at calling the action, especially with Ventura at his side. Personally, I still prefer Joey Styles, Bob Caudle, and Rich Landrum, but that’s just me.
The Ring Boy lawsuit plaintiffs have asked the courts to keep their identities anonymous. Do you think the court should allow the plaintiffs to maintain anonymity, given the nature of the allegations?
I’m torn on this one. Usually, I’d be all for keeping the identities quiet, but when someone waits thirty years to file a lawsuit, it just seems to me more of a cash grab than anything else. The guy who allegedly molested these guys has been dead forever, and while I feel for these folks, speaking as a sexual abuse survivor myself, I think they should just move on instead of waiting thirty or forty years after the fact. And their names, as public as the people they’re trying to get money from now.
Do you think WWE should introduce an interim champion or continue to wait for Vaquer’s return?
Interim champions are an AEW thing, and WWE should not even consider that. If shes out too long, strip her of the title and put the belt on someone else. That’s how it has always been done in the past, and that’s how it should be done now.
Who is the most evil wrestler ever, in real life?
There are some bad people out there who wrestled or were part of the industry. I don’t know who the most evil one is, but my top five, off the top of my head, would be Tammy Sytch, Buck Zumhofe, Fabulous Moolah, Hardbody Harrison, and Grizzly Smith.
Chelsea Green: “Just because someone is losing does not mean they’re being buried.” Agree or disagree?
Agree. Buried is not being used at all, and not even mentioned, considered an afterthought at best. If you’re being used, even if you lose more than you win, you’re not being buried.
Does Mama Benjamin, Shelton Benjamin’s “mother”, belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
Shelton’s mama was played by comedian Thea Vidale. No, she does not belong in the WWE Hall of Fame. We should forget that period of time and that character ever happened. She’s a good comic, but her role in WWE? Forget about it.
Elon Musk is reportedly being strongly rumored as a potential buyer of WWE from TKO, with discussions said to be in extremely early stages. Thoughts?
I saw this rumor, but there is no credibility to it. If WWE does go up for sale, I’d prefer Musk to the Saudis, but as I said, I’ve seen nothing at all that suggests this rumor is true.
Many AEW fans are calling out Powerhouse Hobbs for not resigning with AEW and joining the competition, saying he sold out. What do you think?
Hobbs is a sellout for moving on from a company where he’s peaked after five years to a bigger company with the potential of improving his career and becoming a better wrestler? Okay, if y’all say so. Idiots.
What’s your favorite Jim Crockett Promotions wrestling storyline?
The Wahoo McDaniel versus Greg Valentine feud was incredible. The Robe versus The Hat feud between Blackjack Mulligan and Ric Flair was great. Obviously, the build to Starcade with Flair and Harley Race was incredible. My favorite? Jimmy Valiant versus Paul Jones. This one lasted for nearly six years and never got boring.
