It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m your party host and Guiding Light, Doug, and this is how I roll. You have questions and I have the answers. Let’s do this.

Who is a main-roster talent that you want to see get drafted to NXT in this year’s WWE Draft?

Shinsuke Nakamura is the first name that popped into my head. Since the feud with Cody, he hasn’t been doing anything as of late. Nikki Cross is another who would do well with a change of scenery.

Dominik Mysterio has injured his arm and will be out of action for a while. Thoughts?

This sucks for Dom, but I hope it’s nothing serious. Luckily, Dom is so over that he doesn’t need to wrestle and can just show up and be in the Judgment Day corner without losing any momentum. Just by being there, Dom can get more heat than 90% of the roster.

In their primes, Lex Luger versus Jinder Mahal. Who wins?

I hate to admit it, but Lex would most likely end up hindering the Jinder. The two men are similar in size and style and it would be a fun match to see and far closer than most would expect. But when the final bell was rung, it would be Lex getting his arm raised in victory.

Am I the only one who wants to see Chad Gable turn into a version of crazy Bob Backlund?

You probably are the only one, yes. Let Gable be Gable and find his way to the top rather than trying to imitate Backlund. There is only one crazy Bob Backlund and as good as he is, Gable is not him.

Pedro Morales versus Damian Priest. Who wins?

As good as Morales was, and yes, he is a wrestling legend and icon, this one goes to Priest every time. Pedro was damn good. Priest is better.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) just issued a ban on Non-Compete clauses in any business contracts. How will this affect professional wrestling?

I don’t think this will affect pro wrestling all that much. While the term non-compete is used, the way companies like WWE work is that they tell you that you’re being released from your contract, but then they continue to pay the talent their salary for 90 days. Once that time expires, the talent can go wherever they choose and work wherever they want. So it’s not a no-compete, but more of a notice that the company is releasing a person, but they’re still getting paid. So the new rules shouldn’t affect WWE or pro wrestling all that much at all.

Sensational Sherri Martel versus Trish Stratus. Who wins?

Did these two ever wrestle? If they did, I can’t remember it. This would be an epic match. I think I’d go with Sherri for this one.

From what I keep hearing, it sounds as if Jeff Hardy’s AEW contract may be expiring sooner than expected. If so, what’s next for Hardy?

My suggestion would be to step away from active wrestling for a while. Maybe work on his music, do some signings, and even some training of some younger talents in North Carolina near his home. There are plenty of options for Jeff to keep busy and make money without continuing to wreck his body. Maybe get a Legend’s Deal with WWE and make some appearances as an ambassador for them. Anything, but active in-ring wrestling. Give the body plenty of time to heal.

Why didn’t TJP have the same success as Seth Rollins?

I had to look him up to even remember who TJP, aka TJ Perkins, even was. A good wrestler as I remember, but nothing stands out about him I can remember. So far as Seth goes, he has that “It” and was good in the Indies and just continued to get better. Seth was given the ball by WWE and he ran with it. TJP didn’t get the same breaks and opportunities, thus he didn’t enjoy the same success.

Who had the better WWE debut? Chris Jericho or Eric Bischoff?

While the debut of Jericho in the WWE was a classic and memorable moment, I have to go with the debut of Eric Bischoff. Nobody saw it coming as it was before the internet. It was so out of nowhere and such a big moment. Bischoff and Vince together? How can I not choose that one?

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap things up. Take care and be well, my friends. Watch out for foreign objects and I’ll see you at the matches.
