Tossing Salt Presents:
WWE No Mercy Thoughts & Predictions
September 22, 2017
Coming up on Sunday night, exclusively on the WWE Network, is the RAW branded “Mo Mercy” pay-per-view, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. For what is a B-show pay-per-view, the WWE has really stacked this card up and is really pulling out all the stops. And since the show is coming up Sunday, I think it’s time to put on the “Sister Cleo” robes, break out the Crystal Ball and do some predictions. There’s no time for love, Mr. Jones. Let’s go for it and do this…
WWE Universal Championship Match
Brock Lesnar (c) (with Paul Heyman) vs. Braun Strowman
I am actually really excited for this match and looking forward to see what Brock and Braun can do together in that ring. Braun has come so far in such a short amount of time. This is one case where the WWE actually did it right and we may be looking at the best “giant” in wrestling since Andre. Brock is a monster and physical freak and it’s hard to imagine anyone taking him down as the champion, but if anyone is capable, Braun may be the man. I think that everything in the end of this match will depend upon Paul Heyman, the advocate and what he decides to do. Does Heyman stick with the tried and true or do we end up with, as many have speculated, a new “Paul Heyman guy” at the end of the night in Strowman? There is history here as Paul did this once before, turning on Brock in favor of the Big Show many, many years ago. Will history repeat itself? More and more, I’m thinking it might. Heyman does a turn and that distraction causes Brock to lose. New champion and more importantly, new Heyman guy, Braun Strowman.
Winner and NEW Universal Champion: Braun Strowman
John Cena vs. Roman Reigns
Cena is coming and going. Vince has the future of the WWE, in his eyes anyhow, riding on Roman Reigns’ shoulders. If Cena wins, the push ends too. Roman has to win here or what’s the point? Superman punch and a spear. Roman wins.
Winner: Roman Reigns
WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus
I like Cesaro and Sheamus as a team. They’ve really grown on me and I would like to see them capture the tag titles here. I’d also like to see Gallows and Anderson back in the mix and have this match turned into a three-way at the last second, but I doubt that will happen. Ambrose and Seth? I know that they’re the favorites and everyone loves them, but they get on my damn nerves. I’d rather have Ambrose here in the tag scene than goofing around and bothering Miz or the credible singles wrestlers. I’d much rather see Sheamus and Cesaro get the titles back here, but I don’t think it’ll happen yet. This feud, especially with the Hardys and the Club added to the mix, has legs and will last for a while longer. Look for the champs to retain.
Winners and STILL RAW Tag Team Champions: Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins
Finn Bálor vs. Bray Wyatt
So Bray won the first match pretty easily. Finn pulled out his demon and won the second match. And now, we’re down to the rubber match. Finn doesn’t have the face paint on, but has the man who created the demon coming at Bray full force. And Bray has himself, which has always been more than enough. Finn seems to be lost in limbo since coming back from his injury, where he’s winning matches, but isn’t making any kind of progress. Bray can win or lose and it doesn’t matter that much since he can just cut a few promos and everyone forgets that he doesn’t win all that much. If Balor loses, it’ll hurt him far more than Bray so Finn needs to win here. He will.
Winner: Finn Balor
WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match
Neville (c) vs. Enzo Amore
Enzo as the Cruiserweight Champion? Please, hell no! If Enzo wins, we riot! ‘Nuff said!
Winner and STILL WWE Cruiserweight Champion: Neville
Fatal 5-Way Match for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Nia Jax vs. Emma
Why is Bayley even in this match? She doesn’t deserve it and hasn’t earned this spot. I don’t think that Sasha or Bayley stand a chance here at winning the title. Nia can win and should eventually, but I’d rather see it at one of the bigger events or even on RAW. And that leaves Emma? Could it happen? She’s probably the least likely woman on the roster to be the new champ, apart from maybe Lana over on Smackdown. But it would give her credibility on her claim to have “started the women’s revolution” and could be fun to see. What the hell. Let’s go for it. Emma steals the win after Nia destroys Alexa. New Champion in the house.
Winner and NEW RAW Women’s Champion: Emma
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz (c) (with Maryse, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas) vs. Jason Jordan
I think that Jordon will eventually manage to get that Intercontinental Championship from Miz, but I don’t think that it’s going to be happening just yet. I’d rather it didn’t happen at all because this whole “Jason Jordan is Kurt’s son” crap angle has grown stale already in my opinion. But maybe they can jazz it up after this match. Look for Jason to dominate and come just thisclose to beating Miz, but interference by the Miztourage will cause a DQ finish. Jordan wins, but Miz keeps the title. And Kurt gets involved and takes action on RAW on Monday. Sounds like a plan to me.
Winner by DQ: Jason Jordan (Miz retains the Intercontinental Championship)
And I guess that’s it. That’s all of the matches announced so far for No Mercy, even though I’m guessing we’ll get at least one more match for the kick-off show. If there is another match announced, I’ll do my prediction for that match on my Facebook page and Twitter sometime before the show on Sunday night. So what do you think? Am I right with my predictions? Am I wrong? Comments and thoughts are welcome. Let me know what you think.
And now, that’s all for me today. I have to go get ready for work. Until the next time, have a great day and thank you for reading this and making this site work. Later gators.
