Greetings and welcome to the saltiest wrestling column ever, the one and only “Tossing Salt – Worldwide News”. Nah, I’m just kidding. I do need to write a new “TSWWN” column or two and keep the magic alive, but right now, I’m just winding down after an 11 hour work day and the thought of writing a full fledged wrestling column is giving me the shivers. Not today, my friends. But I’ll tell you what I will do. How about a little ol’ wrestling Q&A? Does that sound like a plan or what? So that’s exactly what we’re going to do. The questions are from my friend, Larry. And I’ll be providing answers as we go along. And the capital of North Carolina is Raleigh. And away we go. Let’s do this…

1. Thoughts on the tag team break-up of Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre.

I think WWE jumped the gun and hot-shotted what could have been a big moment and made it into a “who cares” moment instead. Instead of all of a sudden, having Drew act out of character and diss Dolph and it’s instant match and win for Dolph, wasting Drew’s first loss to a totally forgettable moment, wouldn’t it had been better to tease the break-up for a bit. Have Drew be more subtle in his behavior as he starts to prefer Corbin and Lashley over his best friend and partner, Drew. Give it some build and make Dolph a sympathetic character who can get something positive out of this. Drag it out and give the split a purpose and meaning. That’s what they needed to do. Instead, all of a sudden, Drew calls Dolph a chump and turns on him and Dolph manages to take advantage of a distraction to get a victory over Dolph and absolutely no one cares or gives a damn. Way to go, WWE.

2. Is Miz correct when he takes responsibility for Daniel Bryan’s heel change?

I think Vince, HHH and the WWE “creative teams” are more responsible actually than Miz is for what Daniel is doing now, but if story-wise, Miz wants to take credit and appear to be a Sage for Bryan, who am I to argue and complain? If Miz says he’s responsible, then he’s responsible. After all, he’s the Miz and we all know he would never, ever lie or try to mislead us, right?

3. Can the tag team of Epico and Primo be made relevant again?

A chance in attitude and a purpose plus a few clean wins over top teams and the two Colon cousins could be major players and a top tag team for WWE. It wouldn’t be hard since they have the talent necessary. They just need to have a reason for being and be booked as a strong team and winners and if it happens long enough, the fans will start to go along and believe it. Yes, the fans are that fickle sometimes. It’s not always a bad thing.

4. Is it time to break up the New Day?

I get it that they’re still making big merchandise money and kids love them, but the New Day is old and stale in my eyes and if they were broken up and never heard from again as a team, I wouldn’t complain a bit. I’d love to see Xavier Woods get a push as a singles star, preferably a heel and let’s see what he can do. Kofi and Big E could continue as a mid-card tag team if necessary, but hopefully drop that pancake crap and focus more on serious wrestling. I hate pancakes now because this glorious food that I used to love, now reminds me of The New Day and that leaves me feeling sour. Enough already. Let’s move on to other teams and something else.

5. What match at TLC are you most looking forward to?

Easily the triple-threat TLC match with Becky, Charlotte and Asuka. That match will, I think, be the most brutal of the night and those three ladies will do their best to steal the show. I think they’ll do it too.

6. Dynamite Kid in the WWE Hall of Fame?

As a singles, nope. As a tag team with the British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith, I can see it happening. It’ll probably be more of a “Legacy Induction” since neither man is alive now and I’m not sure on how good of terms their families are with WWE these days. The honor is well deserved though and I think that it’s just a matter of time that, one way or another, we’ll see the name of Tom Billington, aka The Dynamite Kid, listed as a WWE Hall of Fame Inductee.

And there you go. Thoughts, comments and any questions welcome and appreciated. Thank you for reading. And until the next time, take care. I’m Doug and never forget who loves ya, Babe. Have a great one.

  1. Doug, Dynamite Kid should be in the Hall Of Fame on his own. The match and subsequent matches he had with Tiger Mask are still talked today. They tore the roof of Madison Square Garden when they had their match. In fact that match is #3 in the top 5 Matches held at Madison Square Garden. Dynamite also held the WWF World Junior Heavyweight Title. He defeated The Cobra for the Belt. While some todays fans don’t know him He and Tiger Mask are both very much responsible for the High Flying moves we see today. Just one fan’s opinion. Dynamite’s nephew’s are continuing his legacy in wrestl8ng. Young Thomas Billington well when you see him wrestle, you’ll say “SHADES OF THE DYNAMITE KID!!!!!!”
