Brock, Hogan vs Flair, Tessa & More

It’s time again to separate the facts from the innuendo and rumors. Let’s do that Wrestling Fact or Fiction thing. My thanks to Jake Chambers and the staff of 411mania.com for allowing me to “borrow” their statements and format and play around with it for a while. Now, let’s get ready to rumble. Let’s do this…

Statement #1: Brock Lesnar should win the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble Match.

Special Task: Please writer the response as if you are pitching your idea to Vince McMahon

FICTION: Listen Vince, here’s the idea. Let Brock dominate the Rumble and eliminate challenger after challenger. And then, when he’s feeling all cocky and unbeatable, Wrestler X can catch him off guard and surprise, Brock’s eliminated. Brock freaks and goes back into the ring, brawls with Wrestler X and ends up throwing him to the floor. They brawl until security breaks it up and there you go. Brock has an instant feud and challenger for Mania. The eventual winner of the Rumble can challenge Bray for the Universal Championship and we now have two main events in place for the big show. It’s a win for everyone and Brock still looks strong. Think of Maven eliminating Undertaker from the Rumble in 2002, but an updated version with Wrestler X in the role of Maven and Brock playing Taker’s part. Just think about it. It’s really what we need to do.

Statement #2: If you could see Bret Hart in his prime versus one wrestler today, in a PPV main event, it would be Dean Ambrose.

FICTION: Ambrose has never been one of my favorites and I thought that everyone knew that by now. Bret in his prime against JohnMorrison would be good. Against Dolph Ziggler would be good. How about Bret versus AJ Styles? Or Daniel Bryan? Or Miz? Or even Heath Slater? All of these matches would be preferable to me over watching Bret versus Ambrose.

Statement #3: Tessa Blanchard winning the IMPACT Wrestling men’s championship was a huge mistake.

Special Task: please write your response within the original 140 character limit for a Tweet

FACT: She’s not a monster and any man can beat her in reality. Worth a shot, but take the belt off fast before any damage done. #NoTessaAsChamp. (139 characters – damn, I’m good!)

Statement #4: Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair as the main event of Wrestlemania VIII would have been an awesome match.

FACT: Flair was in his prime and Hogan was at the peak of his career and how could a match of that magnitude not be awesome? I think things ended up working out better with Savage and Sid Vicious being thrown into the mix and having two main event matches instead of just one.

Statement #5: The Mount Rushmore of WWE (post name change) is: Triple H, John Cena, Undertaker, Randy Orton

FICTION: Nothing personal against Randy Orton, but I look at the WWE since the name change and I can see HHH, John Cena and Undertaker as the top three guys. That makes sense, but Randy just doesn’t seem to fit here. His career has been great and he is a top guy in the WWE, but I think that Brock Lesnar has had more of an impact and deserves that fourth spot. So make it Triple H, Cena, Undertaker & Brock and that works far better for me.

Statement #6: Only wrestlers with “North American” English accents can successfully become mainstream crossover WWE superstars.

FICTION: Becky Lynch. ‘Nuff said!

And with that, I bring this to a close. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, please feel free to drop me a line. Let’s chat. Until the next time, take care of yourself and don’t forget to support your local Indy Wrestling Promotions. See the stars of tomorrow today. See you at the matches.
