Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: Earthquake, All Women PPV, Braun Strowman & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Earthquake, All Women PPV, Braun Strowman & More
June 9, 2021

I’m so annoyed right now and need to calm down. What better way than by talking for a few minutes about the world’s greatest sport? It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.

Do you see Kenny Omega beating Misawa’s record for most five-star matches?

If we’re talking about matches rated by Meltzer, I’m sure Omega already has the record for the most five-star matches. Not that he actually deserves it, but Meltzer loves him some Kenny and even when he’s in the middle of the ring with his manager screaming “69 Me”, Meltzer will start throwing stars in his direction. It’s almost embarrassing, but then again, so is Kenny Omega most of the time.

Why isn’t Earthquake in the WWE Hall of Fame yet?

I have no idea why John Tenta hasn’t yet been enshrined into the WWE Hall of Fame. He definitely is deserving and worthy. My guess is that since he passed away, WWE tried to avoid doing the posthumous inductions whenever possible because they honestly can be kind of depressing. He’ll probably go in under the Legacy Inductions at some point though. It’s just a matter of time.

How important is selling during matches/after matches and segments?
Do wrestlers who don’t sell well not good enough or have we reached a point where selling is not a key factor?

With far too many of the newer talents, they forget to sell and it’s annoying. If you just spent thirty minutes getting your leg worked on, show a limp and favor the leg. Don’t start smiling and climb up on the ropes to celebrate. Selling the match and the fight should be half the job to make things look and feel real to the audience and when it doesn’t happen, it’s just lame as hell. After a match, act like you’ve been in a fight or don’t even bother showing up if you’re not capable of that. Unless you’re the Undertaker, selling should be a big part of every match. It’s just my opinion, but I’m right.

Would you like for Tony Khan to have an on-screen role or stay off AEW? What do you think of his Paid Commercials for Impact?

Tony Khan as the occasional figurehead of AEW would be fine, just like the old days of WCW where Ted Turner made the occasional appearance to add importance to a situation or the days of WWF where Jack Tunney was used as the “President” to add to an event or make it seem more important. That would be okay, but to just be there every week, AEW doesn’t need that and it lessens the impact of having Khan around. As for the commercials on Impact, I get why they’re doing that, but to be honest, in my opinion, they’re kind of dumb.

Is Jinder Mahal a future WWE Hall of Famer?

Fifteen or so years down the road, I can see that happening. A solid career and a run as the WWE Champion mean that if nothing happens to destroy his relationship with the company, a gold ring is probably in his future at some point.

How long until Braun is the new leader of the Dark Order?

Hopefully never. Braun has always been presented as a big of an act first before thinking kind of a goof, a follower and not a leader, and unless there is far more to him than we’ve been told and seen, presenting him as the leader of a faction wouldn’t make sense. I can see Braun doing a lot of things in AEW if they do decide to sign him once the no-compete is over, but as the leader of or even part of the Dark Order, I just don’t see it happening.

Lana in AEW? What do you think?

If they put her back with Miro and use her in a manner similar to what she originally did as the manager of Rusev in early WWE, then okay, but otherwise, let her stay home and make babies and cookies instead.

The NWA announced that they’ll be holding an All-Women’s PPV with Mickie James as the Executive Producer. Thoughts?

I am very excited about this. We’ve been waiting since WWE Evolution a few years ago for another chance to see the women of professional women have their own show and with Mickie James involved and essentially calling the shots, it should be epic. I do like also what Mickie said about wanting the best women, even if they are signed to some other company so I expect that AEW and Impact Wrestling will have some ladies at the event and it wouldn’t surprise me to see a few legends as well. I’d love to see Baby Doll and Missy Hyatt come in to do something as well and maybe even a few legends who are not under contract or affiliated with anyone else at the moment like Madusa, Ivory, or even Jackie Moore. This should be a great experiment for the NWA and I’m hoping that they’ll make it a regular thing. I am very excited to see how this all comes together.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any thoughts, comments, or questions about anything I’d said or anything you’d like to ask about, please do so and drop me a line. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
