Tossing Salt Presents:
GFW Destination X Thoughts and Predictions
August 11, 2017
Well, I woke up this morning all anxious and excited. I’ve got SummerSlam and NXT Takeover: Brooklyn on the mind. It’s prediction time for the biggest wrestling party of the summer. I came in and found the pictures I need to post with my article. I sat down and prepared to write my ass off, talking about Brock and Cena and Roman and NXT and all of that fun stuff. And then I realized something. SummerSlam isn’t until next weekend. Oops! My bad! So no SummerSlam or NXT stuff until next week. So what should I do now? I’m depressed. Oh vey!
Then I remembered something. Impact Wrestling or TNA or GFW or whatever the hell it’s called now – F*ck the Owl! – has one of their big shows coming up this week. It’s GFW Destination X. And while I admittingly don’t follow Impact Wrestling closely, there are a few people working there, such as Chris Adonis (Masters), Tyrus, Low Ki and even the soap opera like reality disaster, Alberto Del Rio or Patron or whatever he calls himself now. I do read the reports and recaps of what’s going on down there in Orlando. So for the first time in a long time, let’s talk GFW Wrestling and I’ll even try to be nice and positive and all of that fun stuff… maybe. Let’s do this…
Destination X 2017 Predictions:
2017 GFW Super X Cup Tournament Final
Taiji Ishimori vs. Dezmond Xavier
I honestly do not know either of these men or who they are or what they’re capable of. I did go over to YouTube to watch a couple of minutes of each man in action so I’m not totally in the dark, but neither can I truly judge what each guy is about by just a few minutes of action. This one is just a shot in the dark and random pick, but I see more marketability and potential for Xavier than Ishimori. Both men can go in the ring, but getting over here in the Xenophobic United States, I think Xavier would have more opportunities. He’s my pick to win this match and tournament.
Winner: Dezmond Xavier
Unified GFW World Heavyweight Championship Match
Alberto El Patrón (c) vs. Low-Ki
Alberto is a poison and GFW would be wise to get as far away from this guy as possible. But is Low-Ki the answer? I just don’t see it. I think Jeff Jarrett and Anthem are going to bite the bullet here and stick with the damaged goods rather than do a title change at this point and time. If Patron was wrestling someone else like Lashley again or EC3, I’d say that the belt changes hands, but while Low-Ki is a phenomenal in-ring talent, he’s not what I consider the proper guy to be the top dog of the company, unless it’s just a transitional spot. Patron wins and the circus continues.
Winner and STILL GFW World Champion: Alberto El Patron
GFW X-Division Championship Ladder Match
Sonjay Dutt (c) vs. Trevor Lee
This should be the match of the night because these two men should go and go strong. I love watching Sonjay Dutt in action and have been a fan of his for years and Trevor.. the future of wrestling wrapped in a sexy package. He’s damn good too. This could go either way and it wouldn’t be an upset no matter who wins, but I think the smart move, for now, is to keep the belt on Sonjay and let the rivalry develop and carry on for a while. There is money to be made here with these two men and GFW needs to roll with it. Sonjay retains.
Winner and STILL GWF X-Division Champion: Sonjay Dutt
Match For a GFW Title Shot
Lashley vs. Matt Sydal
I keep seeing reports that Sydal was legitimately injured and may be questionable for the Destination X show. I hope that it’s really not that serious and he’s able to work the event because Sydal is a hell of a talent and can really go in that ring. He showed that time and time again during his WWE run and deserves the opportunity to show it again here in GFW. But that being said, against Lashley, it’s not even close. Sydal will steal the match and look like a million bucks, playing the guy who won’t quit or die role, and in the end, Lashley will use the strength, power and that UFC fighting experience to take home the win and move one step closer to getting his GFW title back.
GFW Unified Woman’s Championship
Sienna (c) vs. Gail Kim
Gail has already announced that this is her last year of wrestling and she will be retiring soon. So if she’s already eyeing the door, why would she want to go after the Knockouts title again? I understand the whole “wanting to go out on top” bit, but that should be reserved for the final days of her run and not just yet. I think for this match, it’s about kicking ass and making an example rather than winning that gold. Gail will dominate and Sienna will keep her belt, probably via the disqualification rule. And the rivalry will continue for many more shows down the road.
Winner By DQ: Gail Kim (Sienna retains the Women’s Championship)
Possible Match (Not Confirmed)
Kongo Kong versus Tyrus
Don’t know if this match will happen, but Tyrus came out to save Joseph Park and Grado on the last episode of Impact and confronted Kongo Kong, who decided to take a powder from the ring and head to the back. It’d be rush-booking, but since Tyrus is currently on fire right now as a personality, due to his weekly role on Fox News as part of the “Greg Gutfield Show”, this would be a good time to bring him back into the mix and put him on GFW TV. Tyrus isn’t a great wrestler by any means, but he’s a great character and that needs to be capitalized upon. And Kongo Kong? Yeah, whatever. If this match happens, and it probably won’t but I wish it would, I’m going for a major brawl, a few shenanigans here and there, some Grado in the mix and Tyrus walking to that pay window with his arm raised in victory, just because that’s the smart thing to do.
And with that, I’m out of here my friends. I have a few errands to go run, some people to feed and I may even go buy myself a treat. We’ll see. Thanks for reading. Comments and thoughts are welcome and any feedback at all is appreciated. I’ll catch you later, my good Peeps. Until then…
