Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
October 1, 2017
And now it’s time to climb aboard the Soul Train. Or maybe not. How about we just do that “Music Fact or Fiction” thing instead. The questions come from my friends at 411mania.com/music. And the rest is from me. Let’s do this…
The Four sounds like a nice change from the other singing competition shows.
FACT: So far, it seems by the build that it will be somewhat different with some competition between the singers and more of a pop / hip hop format than the usual “look for the strong voice” way that most of the singing songs work. It might work out and be a hit or it might fail, but it does sound intriguing.
Luke Bryan is a good choice to judge the American Idol reboot.
FACT: I’d much rather see a more established performer with a long history of writing, singing and producing quality music instead of this fake-ass country flavor of the month, but people seem to like Bryan. He’s good looking and personable and has had some good success in the music industry so he’s as good as anyone else and still better than some of the judges they’ve had before (Ellen). He’d not the man I’d pick or even as my fifth or tenth choice, but for the general masses, he’ll work.
A Britney Spears/Mariah Carey collaboration would be a trainwreck.
FICTION: While there is a chance that both women could bring their Diva-mode attitudes to the party and pretty much screw up any chance of working together, there is also a chance that these two women could be professional and actually work together with no egos, determined to make the best music possible. It could go either way if these women got together and the only way to find out how and in what direction would be if it actually happened.
You enjoyed Lady Gaga’s Netflix documentary Five Foot Two.
FICTION: I tried to watch it on Netflix and ended up falling asleep. I tried again and more of the same. So at least I know that I value sleep more than Gaga. That doesn’t say much for the documentary then because I stayed awake during Gone With The Wind… all of it. Not a big Gaga fan anyhow to be honest.
The Killers’ new album Wonderful Wonderful is a step up from Battle Born.
FICTION: I can’t honestly say that it’s a step up or a step down because I never listened to “Battle Born”. I did go and listen to a few tracks from the “Wonderful Wonderful” album though and what I heard sounded good to me.
Lupe Fiasco’s “Running From President” was an enjoyable return track.
FACT: I went and listened and I like it. Not a big fan of Lupe Fiasco, but this song is pretty decent. I enjoyed it.
And there you go. That’s the end of this for now. Thanks for reading. And until the next time, take care and have a great one.
