It’s time to get political. Yay! The questions come from the Facebook page of “Opposing Views”, hence the name. I provide the answers. And dat’ is all de’ people need to know. Let’s do this…
Do you think President Trump is delivering on the promises he made to America?
I think that he is trying to do everything that he promised. It isn’t necessarily all working out since he can’t seem to get Congress to cooperate and keep the promises that they made, but Trump is definitely trying to get things done, the things he said he would do to make America great again, which is far more than I can say for the previous administration.
The NFL Players Association says players who kneel during the anthem are speaking up for American values and should be applauded. Do you AGREE or DISAGREE with that?
I disagree because the values I was raised and brought up with, and I am an American, say that we should be respectful of our flag, our veterans and our nation. While protest is welcome and to be applauded, there is a time and place and on national television at a football game is not that place. Show some pride in being an American and show some respect for our flag and country. Do your protests on your own time and not the time of your employer.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says any player who kneels during the national anthem is getting benched. Do you think more owners should enact the same policy?
Yes. Jones is the boss and everyone that wears a Cowboy uniform is an employee of his and works for him. If they want to protest something on their own time, so be it, but while they’re representing that team and that franchise, what the boss says goes… period. These acts of “protest”, even though 95% of the people doing it could not tell you what it’s for or what it’s really about, are hurting the NFL, the teams, the images and costing the teams millions of dollars, plus they’re a distraction from the reason everyone is there, to play football. They’re counter-productive to the well being of the team and franchise and Jones has every right to make this call. Honestly, as a responsible manager and owner of a team, he’d be an idiot to allow the kneeling and protests to continue. They’re hurting the team and it’s image.
Sanctuary cities are now officially illegal in Mississippi. Do you support the state’s decision?
Absolutely. It’s now officially illegal for the city governments to ignore federal law, break the law and collect money from the federal government while ignoring the rules and conditions that go along with accepting that money. Makes sense to me.
Hollywood celebs say we need new gun control laws NOW in the wake of Las Vegas. How would you respond to them?
There are plenty of gun control laws already in effect and the people who commit these crimes, they don’t worry about or follow the laws anyhow. What is needed is a way to figure out who the whack-jobs are and deal with them and not just throwing more and more laws out there that only hurt the responsible gun owners and prevent them from being able to protect themselves. Have the Hollywood Celebs give up their body-guards, the armed security when they’re on set or working on a show, etc and see how safe and secure they perform. We don’t need more laws. We just need more people using common sense against the bad guys and less celebrities running their mouth, trying to jump on the bandwagon, when they obviously don’t have a clue.
Parkway High School in Louisiana has a new rule for all student athletes: If you kneel for the National Anthem, you’re off the team. Do you support the policy?
Absolutely. What a person (adult) does in their private life and time is their business, but when you’re playing for a team or a school, you represent that place as well as yourself and have to be responsible and respectful of the policies and rules in effect. And if that’s not possible, then you have no reason to be there. It’s just that simple.
A new Colorado bill bans people from using any public benefit funds to buy marijuana. Do you support it?
I wasn’t aware that anyone was buying pot with their food stamps, which was what this column originally was speaking about, but yeah, this is common sense. If a person is getting medical marijuana, then they should have a prescription and be able to purchase it with their own money, but food stamps (EBT) are for food and food only and that’s all that they should be able to be used for. Same as gas vouchers are for gas only, light bill help is for light bills only, etc. If you want to smoke, use your own money for buying the smoke and use any kind of benefits provided by the government for the purpose it’s intended for. If you can’t do that, don’t get the benefits. It’s common sense and really is that simple.
Is Trump already a better president than Obama was?
There is no way that he couldn’t not be better. Trump is at least trying to keep his promises that he made and do things that make our nation stronger, while Obama’s failed policies only hurt our nation, both in perception and reality, time and time again. Plus that Obama care lie that he spouted over and over and over. That alone is reason to despise the man, at least in my opinion.
Do you support Donald Trump’s border wall plans?
Build that damn wall!!
And there you go. I’ve got more questions, but I have to go do Food Lion for the Food Bank and face that sweltering heat for a little while. I also need to find myself a sexy-ass man to Netflix and chill with for a few hours, minus the Netflix part of course. I just want the booty. Anyhow, thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts and questions of any sort are welcome. Until the next time, have a great one. Take care.
