Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
December 24, 2017
Merry Christmas Eve and welcome to the Salt Palace. I need to go out into the craziness that is pre-holiday shopping and find some collards. My sister wants to cook. I also need to go get some scratch off lottery tickets to help plan for my eventual retirement. So much to do, but instead, let’s talk a little music. It’s that “Fact or Fiction” time. As per the usual, the comments I’m commenting on come from my good friends over at 411mania.com/music. And I’ll supply everything else. Let’s get busy, shall we? And away we go…
Diddy will end up buying the Carolina Panthers.
FICTION: Lord, I hope not. Diddy gets on my nerves and the last thing I would want to see is that clown owning the team that represents my state, the great state of North Carolina. I think Diddy is all talk as he usually is, building up the hype, but always letting us down. He may eventually end up as part-owner of something, but let it be a team that no one cares about, just like Diddy. If anyone is going to buy the Panthers franchise, I’m hoping that it’s Vince McMahon.
Ed Sheeran would be a good choice for the next Bond theme.
FACT: As good as anyone, I guess. If he has a good song ready that fits the vibe of the Bond franchise and works for the powers-that-be, so be it. And if someone else has something better, use them instead. Let’s see what they have before we try to make any kind of final decision. I remember Alice had a great song that was perfect for Bond on his “Lace & Whiskey” album. The Bond people should contact “The Coop” and see what he can come up with as well as Sheeran.
You enjoyed the A&E docuseries “Who Killed Tupac?”
FICTION: I didn’t watch it so I can’t say one way or the other, but honestly, I’m sick of hearing about Tupac and Biggie and all of that. Let the guys rest in peace.
Even though it’s successful, you have no interest in 50 Cent’s show Power.
FACT: 50 Cents has a few good songs, but he’s not a big favorite of mine and I didn’t even know or care that he has a show called “Power”. Now I do know. Still don’t care though.
Lady Gaga’s Las Vegas residency will be a huge success.
FACT: Acts like Lady Gaga are tailor made for places like Vegas. She’s got glam and glitz and showmanship, plus she can actually sing too. Not a big Gaga fan, but she’s definitely a good entertainer and will do well in Vegas, making tons of money and entertaining her fans without the stress of touring all the time. This is a good move for her.
Chance the Rapper and Jeremih’s Christmas album was enjoyable.
FICTION: I don’t listen to Chance the Rapper and only know who he is because of his hosting SNL a few weeks ago. And Jeremih is who? I generally don’t care for concept albums like Christmas albums because for the most part, they’re unoriginal, boring and totally forgettable. I’m not a big fan of most rap either so that makes strike two for this. Go listen to music like Bowie and Bing Crosby doing “Little Drummer Boy / Peace on Earth” or even Steve Grand (he so sexy) doing “All I Want For Christmas” if you want holiday tunes. They’re good and unique and Grand is freakin’ hot. As for Chance and Jeremih, nah, I don’t think so.
And there you go. Another one in the books. Thanks for reading. Thoughts, comments, ideas, dirty jokes, etc all welcome. I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas full of happiness, joy and dreams coming true. Take care and I’ll catch you later.
