Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
May 19, 2018
Yes, I know it’s been almost a week and I’ve been a total slack-ass. I have issues sometimes, but it’s time to put all of that in the past and play major catch-up. And what better way to get the party started than a little “Fact or Fiction”, music style. The questions / statements come from my good, close, long term personal friends over at 411mania.com/music. I’m providing the comments and thoughts that follow. And the Chinese food from this afternoon is providing the gas. Long story. Let’s get busy and do this…
1. A Jay-Z produced Prince album should be good.
FACT: I’m not a fan of Jay-Z, but he’s a good music producer and a talented man. Price was an iconic artist and his vault contains, by all accounts, some damn amazing and interesting stuff. It’d be hard for anyone with half a brain and even the smallest bit of production talent to mess this stuff up and Jay-Z certainly won’t do anything to ruin the music or hurt Prince’s legacy. I think it will turn out very good.
2. Cardi B will return to Instagram sooner than later.
FACT: I didn’t know, nor do I even care, that she left. But she’ll be back. Talentless idiots seeking attention always come back. Instagram is a very useful too for the big egos with little talent to promote themselves and stroke their self-inflated worthless opinions of themselves and Cardi B. is no exception. She’ll be back, make a few excuses to save face for being a dip-shit hypocrite and life will go on and I still won’t care.
3. You’re interested in the re-issue of Guns N’Roses Appetite for Destruction.
FACT: I’m interested as a fan to see if this manages to bring everyone back together again to bury old grudges and mend fences and maybe create some new music, but that’s mainly about it. I already own the original Appetite album, on cassette, CD and vinyl. Why would I want to buy it again? Simple. I don’t.
4. Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato’s song “Fall In Line” was a solid duet.
FACT: Solid is a good way to describe it. It’s a decent enough song and both ladies do well and sing the hell out of it so that’s all a big plus. I’m not really a fan of either and even though it’s listenable enough, it’s not my cup of tea at all. I won’t change the radio station if it comes on, but I won’t seek it out to listen to on my own either.
5. Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar’s “Win” was enjoyable.
FICTION: I listened and couldn’t get into it at all. Stupid repetitive lyrics and a s-so beat. Lamar can do better than this. I wasn’t impressed at all. Next!
6. It’s not surprising that R. Kelly was pulled from Spotify.
FACT: It’s Spotify’s call and they can play the music of whoever they want or don’t want to. Kelly has always had the baggage of the sexual shenanigans and legal problems with him and now that there are new allegations, I guess Spotify just had enough. Can anyone really blame them? It’s their service and their call. End of story.
And that’s all of this for me for now. Thank you for reading. Comments, thoughts and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care and stay safe. Have a great one.
