It’s Q&A time and it’s all about the sounds that help up get through the day, the sounds of music. Questions come from Facebook and my friend, Dustin. And the answers, you know where they’re from. Just lil’ old me. Let’s do this…

If you were to start your own record label and could sign three up-and-coming singers, two past their prime talents and one “superstar”, who would you sign to your label?

A Dougie record label, probably called “Tossing Salt Records”? That would be awesome. And who could / would I sign? Well, for my three “up-and coming” artists, I’d go with Steve Grand (All American Boy, Stay), Puddles Pity Party (who wouldn’t want a 7-foot clown with a voice of gold) and former local boy turned American Idol, Bucky Covington. For my “past their prime” talents, the always awesome “Miss Wit” Betty Wright (No Pain, No Gain) and Billy Ray Cyrus (Achy Breaky Heart). And for my “superstar” that would open the door for these other talents and bring in the sales, I’d try to hook Justin Timberlake.

Did Eminem go too far with all of the dissing of other artists with his new album, Kamikaze?

It’s Eminem and most of these receipts are long overdue. Too far? Not at all.

Thoughts on the passing of Aretha Franklin.

It’s a big loss for the world of music and entertainment. Aretha was a true icon, legend and definitely one of the kind. RIP to the Queen of Soul.

Is there any classic music artist that you’d like to see release a “Duets” style album. Who would you like to see them sing with?

Most of my favorite old time artists have passed on, but two names do come to mind. Alice Cooper of course, but I’ve already done a full piece on the great one and what I’d love to hear from the man named Alice. I even did a fan fic story about it and I probably will post that story later on my Facebook and Twitter accounts. So that leaves my other “big name” that I’d love to hear harmonize with eight or ten other artists. And the name is (drum roll please) TMA’s favorite Beatle, Paul McCartney. Sir Paul has already recorded a few duets in the past with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson and more recently with Kayne West & Rihanna, but there are so many other artists out there that I think could benefit from some close-up Beatleness. So if I could put Paul in a studio to record a new CD of musical partnerships, I’d bring in the following people for him to work with. Stevie Wonder (again), Alice Cooper, Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Gretchen Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Lionel Ritchie, Justin Timberlake, Ann Wilson, Haley Reinhardt and finally Eminem. With names like these, anything could be possible and to see what would come out, it would be incredible to behold.

Best concert you’ve ever attended?

So far as the show itself goes, the nod has to go to a concert I went to in 1991 to Charlotte, NC where my friend Sandra and I saw Reba McIntyre, John Michael Montgomery and Linda Davis. Fast moving and great music from start to finish. And the best, so far as atmosphere goes, it’s a toss-up between going to see KISS & Ted Nugent with Greg, LeeAnn, Jim, Lisa and Bryan or going to see Operation Rock & Roll, featuring Alice Cooper, Dangerous Toys, Judas Priest and two other bands in Raleigh, NC. The show was great, but being with TMA, Christopher and Pat made it even better. It was a great experience with some amazing people. I’ve been to a lot of great shows and seen some amazing people, but those two stand out the most.

Who haven’t you seen live yet that you’d like to see perform?

Heart, Elton John, Kid Rock, Soce the Elemental Wizard & Billy Joel are the names that immediately come to mind.

And that’s all for now. Questions, comments and any other thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Thank you for reading. And until the next time, take care and stay awesome. Love ya – mean it.
