People ask questions and I give the answers, five at a time. These come from my friend, Jesse. Let’s do this…

Should Gladys Knight have refused to sing the National Anthem for the Super Bowl?

Gladys Knight , she of the Midnight Train to Georgia, has been selected to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl this coming Sunday. People are protesting and complaining, talking about the whole “kneeling” controversy and how she should not be singing such a “racist” song. Screw them. Gladys Knight is a music legend and can do whatever she wants. She spoke on this issue and she’s hoping to use the song and this performance to bring unity and bring people together and if that’s the case, so be it. It’s our national anthem and deserves respect and I’m glad that she was the one asked to sing it for the Super Bowl. I’m also glad that she said yes.

Beatles or Rolling Stones?

The Stones are great, but they’re not the Beatles. Paul, John, George and Ringo will always be my way to go.

What two totally unrelated singers would you like to hear sing a duet together?

I just finished watching Justin Timberlake and Garth Brooks singing together so anything is possible in music these days. Just off the top of my head, I’d like to hear country music legend Dolly Parton sing with shock-rock pioneer and rock legend Alice Cooper. Just imagine what these two talents could do together. Scary, isn’t it?

What is your music guilty pleasure?

I love Barbra Streisand’s “Back to Broadway” CD. I hate her politics and hate hearing her talk and she’s a bit overbearing at times (lots of times), but damn, that woman has a great voice and can sing.

Thoughts on the R. Kelly sex scandal?

If it was good enough to lock up poor Bill Cosby, then it’s good enough for R Kelly. Lock his child molesting ass up! ‘Nuff said!

And there you go. Questions, thoughts, etc, welcome and appreciated. I’m leaving for work now. Have a great day and I’ll catch you later.
