Tossing Salt Presents:
5 Questions: Movies
August 4, 2019
Loyal reader and all around cool guy Lawrence sent me a few questions. I’m playing catch-up today and what better way to start than with these novel inquiries. Let’s do this.
Who is your favorite director?
Easy answer here. Kevin Smith, although after watching “Tusk”, I have to question his sanity and mental health. But he’s essentially me if I had the talent to write and direct movies and had been born and raised in Jersey. I’ve already got the wild-ass and crazy best friend. I also like the folks who wrote / directed “Airplane” and those great movies from the 70’s that changed movies forever. Yeah, nothing too complicated. Just keep it simple and keep us entertained and I’m happy.
What is your favorite movie franchise (over 5 movies)?
Either the View Askew Universe, all connected by the antics of Jay & Silent Bob, the “Police Academy” series and of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’m a “comic guy” so that one must be included.
If you could remake any classic movie from the past, what would you choose?
How about the James Dean classic “East of Eden”. I’d also like to remake “Son of the South”, just to piss a lot of people off.
If Disney was to tap you to write a script for a new MCU movie, what characters and subject would you want to use?
I’d either do “The Invaders”, the adventures of Captain America and Bucky in WWII, along with their team of The Human Torch, Prince Namor, Spitfire, Union Jack, The Whizzer, Miss America and a few others. And I’d also like to tackle “The Defenders” and I’d expand from the Netflix series and use Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil and add the likes of Devil Slayer, Hellcat (Jessica’s sister), Nighthawk and Dr. Druid to round things out.
Same question, but Warner Brothers and the DC Comics movie franchises?
I’m not really a big DC guy, but how about the Secret Society of Super Villains, a group of criminals like Mirror Master, Funky Flashman, Star Sapphire, Copperhead, Grodd, etc together as a single unit and team. A Captain Cold solo movie could be fun as well.
Okay, and I think that’s it. My thanks to Lawrence for the questions. Hey peeps, I’m back! Thanks for reading. And I’ll be back. See you on the flip side.
