Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Tyson Fury, Jim Ross, Jordon Myles and More
October 28, 2019
It’s time to answer a few questions about the world’s greatest sport (after Naked Twister). My Team Extreme friend, Cheese, sent me these. My thanks. And now, let’s get busy and do this…
Thoughts on the addition of Tyson Fury to the WWE roster and his feud with Braun Strowman?
Fury is a big name and legit boxing star so he brings in credibility and he’s got a personality as well so he knows how to be a character. That makes him in many ways a perfect addition to the WWE and working an angle with Strowman, it doesn’t really matter who wins or loses. Braun can lose the fight (and he will) and it doesn’t matter. It creates a WWE moment, much like Big Show when he lost to Floyd Mayweather, and gets the company lots of publicity and may attract some new fans. It’s always a gamble to bring in someone like Fury, but the pros generally outweigh the cons so what the hell. Go for it WWE.
Is Marko Stunt “too small” and a “disgrace to professional wrestling”?
Size doesn’t matter that much anymore. Just look at Rey Mysterio or most of the Luchadores. It’s not about size as much as it is heart and ability. I don’t think Stunt should be wrestling and beating the bigger guys, but against talent of a like stature, sure thing. Let him perform and do his thing. He’d make a great addition to any Lightweight or Cruiserweight Division if AEW ever decides to go that route.
Should Jim Ross pack it up as an announcer and retire?
Jim Ross isn’t what he once was and that’s a fact. But he’s still a good announcer and better than most of the others out there calling matches. I wouldn’t use Ross as my lead announcer for an extended period, but as the second or third man, he’s more than welcome to stick around as long as he likes. He’s Jim Ross and that’s all that matters.
There are rumors that Ryback may be coming to AEW. Thoughts?
I didn’t like Ryback much when he was in the WWE and I don’t like him much now. If he and AEW can reach a deal and they want him as part of their roster, so be it, but it won’t entice me or many others to want to tune in and watch. Most likely, it’ll will have opposite results.
Jordan Myles is making all sorts of noise against WWE about his new t-shirt being “racist”. Do you think it’s racist? Thoughts?
I saw the shirt and didn’t see any racist symbolism and I doubt anyone else would unless a racist pointed it out to them. I don’t know who Jordan Myles is and really don’t care, but the impression I’m getting is that he’s probably mad about having not been used by NXT since early September and he has an axe to grind. He knows his days with the company are numbered and he’s never going to be a big WWE Superstar and rather than look in the mirror, he’s making excuses and looking to pass the blame and cause some headaches. Now, if they release him, it’ll look like retribution for his claims that the shirt bearing his name, that he approved of, is racist. That makes him the victim and WWE the bad guys. He approved the design and signed off on it and now wants to complain and even threw in some comments about Hogan being back to add icing to the cake. He’s just trouble and a waste of space and WWE would be best off getting rid of him and cutting their losses.
With Xavier Woods looking to be out of action for up to a year, should WWE break up the New Day?
Normally, I would say yes because I’m not a big fan of the team and frankly, they get on my nerves. But with the Usos out of the picture, a long term stable team like the New Day is a solid source of income and the fans like them and they add stablility to the tag team ranks. Let Kofi and Big E continue to team and when Xavier is ready to come back, even if he can’t wrestle, he can still act as their mouthpiece and cut promos. The time to break them up would have been when Kofi was the WWE Champion and one of his “brothers” could have challenged him for the title. Now that he’s out of the WWE title picture, he and the rest of the New Day should stay united and focus on the tag belts and tag team division.
If you could replace Team Flair and Team Hogan with legends for their match at Drown Jewel, who would you use?
I’m not sure if you’re talking about Legends who can still go and wrestle or names from the past who would make great partners for Flair and Hogan and make this into a classic and epic fantasy match. I’ll assume that anyone, dead or alive, is available for use. For Flair, I would stick with The Horsemen as his partners, bringing in Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard and Barry Windham. James J. Dillon would, of course, be at ringside. For Hogan, I’d have his team be the men he’s had the most success in partnerships with, being Randy Savage, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and why the hell not, Ultimate Warrior. Yeah, now that would be a hell raising match I’d like to see.
Would you like to see a second All Women Evolution PPV?
Yes and the sooner, the better. The women of WWE deserve it and since they can’t wrestle at the Saudi shows, then they should have their own show. The first one was incredible and I think it should be an annual event.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, please feel free to drop me a line in the comments section or at Doug28352@yahoo.com. It’s time now to go watch RAW and I’ll also be back later with more stuff. Until the next time, take care and I’ll see you at the matches.
