5 Questions: Television

5 Questions: Television
January 12, 2020

Everyone has questions and every so often, I’ll take the time and answer a few, five at a time. These inquiries come from a conversation with Patti G. And the answers? Well, you already know the answer to that. Let’s do this…

If you had to live with a television family, who would you choose? The Bunkers (All In The Family), The Bradys (The Brady Bunch), The Bundys (Married With Children), The Huxtables (The Cosby Show) or The Conners (Roseanne)?

It’s a wide variety of choices so let’s take a look and figure it out. The Bunkers wouldn’t work because Archie was a lovable grouch and I’m a queer. The Bundy family could be fun, but I like to eat and Peggy didn’t like to cook. Also, I refuse to live in Chicago. No Brady Bunch since I wouldn’t like sharing my room with three brothers and all the kids shared one bathroom. That wouldn’t work for me. I can’t do the Huxtable family thing because even though there would be plenty of Coke and Jello Pudding Pops around, I’d be afraid to drink anything in case my drink was drugged. That leaves Roseanne and the Conners. Poor, sarcastic, struggling and all-around screwed up, that sounds just like my real family. I could do that and would feel right at home immediately. So Dan, Roseanne, Jackie, Darlene, David, DJ and the rest, take me. I’m yours.

If you could be part of a reality show, what show would you like to be on?

Do game shows count as reality shows? If so, then the Gong Show or the Hollywood Squares would be just right for me. If I have to do a more traditional type of reality show, I guess Real World. And if I’m too old for that, I can do Big Brother.

What television show from the past would you like to see rebooted and brought back to television?

All In The Family, Fantasy Island, Chico & The Man and The Drew Carey Show are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Could a variety show (Carol Burnett Show) work with today’s TV audience?

With the right cast and good promotion by the Network, as well as good writers and production qualities, it could still work. Finding a cast as talented as the ones who starred on the Carol Burnett Show would be hard and it would take time to spread the word and promote the show, but if the show is good, it will work and succeed.

Best cartoon ever?

This is probably the hardest question tonight. Do I go with a classic that I just enjoy or I pick one that sets the standards and breaks new ground and has changed the world as we know it? Would the Looney Tunes count as one cartoon or should that be considered a multitude of laughs and humorous shorts? I’m prone to classics like the Pink Panther, Hong Kong Phooey and the Laff-A-Lympics, but I watch them now as an adult and they’re not all that honestly. Hell, let’s just say Family Guy. It has Stewie, Brian, Peter, and Herbert. A baby, a dog, an idiot, and a Pedo. How can you go wrong?

And I guess that’s all for now. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, feel free to drop me a line. Can we talk? Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay sexy. Have a great one.
