The Grand Wizard, WWE for Sale?, Releases & More

It’s time to do it one more time. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. The questions come from you, my loyal readers on Facebook. And the answers? That’s all me, myself, and I. Let’s do this…

Who had the better claw? Blackjack Mulligan or Baron Von Raschke?

Blackjack was a big man with big hands and is one of the greatest wrestling legends of all time, but when it came to applying that dreaded claw, no one did it better than The Baron. It was his bread & butter move and his finisher. Best claw ever? Baron Von Raschke. And ‘dat is all de people need to know!

Are all these terrible things happening because Vince defeated God in 2006?

Hell, that makes as much sense as any of the explanations that the media is trying to throw at us to explain the pandemic that is COVID-19. It’s Vince’s fault. Works for me.

Thoughts on Ernie Roth, the Grand Wizard?

One of the most interesting characters of the ’70s and ’80s, Roth was the manager for The Sheik in the Detroit territory and then a WWF stalwart. He was the personification of brains over brawn. Roth was the manager for Superstar Graham when he defeated Bruno and the manager for Stan Stasiak when he pinned Pedro Morales and then he was a constant thorn in the side of Bob Backlund during his six years as WWF Champion, managing talents like Greg Valentine, Ken Patera, & Don Muraco. A true legend and ground-breaking icon as a pro-wrestling manager.

Do you believe that the WWE is really for sale?

As Ted DiBiase would say, “Everyone has a price” and while I don’t think it’s actually on the market right now, I think that if the right amount was offered, Vince and WWE would probably give it strong consideration.

What are your thoughts on the recent WWE releases? Curtis Axel, Cain Velasquez, and Gerald Brisco?

The release of Axel was a surprise, but hopefully, it will all work out for the best for the third generation superstar. As for Velasquez, I don’t get why he was hired in the first place so no big loss. And finally, Brisco wasn’t released, but just furloughed. He’ll be back at Titan Tower and sitting poolside with Vince and Patterson before long. He’s too valuable a resource for Vince to let go for long.

Who should become the first TNT Champion for AEW?

Who are our choices? Cody Rhodes and the Jake Roberts managed Lance Archer. AEW already has a baby-face champion in Jon Moxley so my money would be on Archer, especially given what Roberts did to Brandi Rhodes last night on Dynamite. Cody will be wanting revenge and not thinking of titles. Archer will end up as the first champion.

Any thoughts on the Smackdown hacker? It is still airing so it must have more to do with just Sonya and Mandy.

I really haven’t been paying as much attention to this angle as I probably should, but it’s an interesting idea and has people talking so that’s a good thing, right? Is it CM Punk? Is it someone else? I am absolutely interested in finding out.

Are you enjoying The Bubbly Bunch on AEW?

Yes, that is very cool. One of the best things in wrestling today. Jericho and his crew make some great video and entertaining moments.

Also, do you wish Chris Jericho would be the commentator full time?

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts or questions, feel free, and drop me a line. Until the next time, take care and stay safe. Have a great one.
