Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: Asuka, Tony Khan, The Rock & More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Asuka, Tony Kahn, The Rock & More
August 10, 2020

Dedicated to the memory of James “Kamala” Harris. May the Ugandan Giant Rest In Peace. 1950 – 2020

Will Asuka go down as the biggest Japanese success story within the confines of the WWE?

While names like Antonio Inoki, Mr. Fugi, Taijari, and Funaki all come to mind, none have had the continued and sustained push that “The Empress of Tomorrow” has enjoyed. Mr. Fuji was from Hawaii by the way. For my money, Asuka is absolutely at the top of the list of Japanese performers in WWE.

Is Tony Khan just another Dixie Carter? Will Cody mess up and Tony will take full control? Will Tony hire Eric Bishoff?

Tony is not another Dixie Carter. He seems to have a love for professional wrestling, knows the history, and has a brain in his head. I think that Cody and the other EVP’s are safe. Khan is a smart guy, but he knows that these guys are smart too and can provide experience and insight that he needs to keep things moving along smoothly. They’d have to screw up awfully bad to get the boot. As for Eric, if they ever decide to go to the “Authority Figure” direction, he’d be a great option, but I don’t see him working for AEW full time anytime soon.

Would you be interested in an AEW versus Impact inter-promotional tag team match between FTR and The North?

Anything that FTR does interest me and a match against The North, co-promoted by AEW and Impact would definitely be worth watching. I’d like to see a whole event and series of matches of AEW versus Impact in a co-promoted super-card. Will it happen? Who knows, but a tag match with the top tag teams of both companies is a good way to start.

The Rock & Roll Express is booked for AEW’s “Tag Team Appreciation Night”. Thoughts?

Good for them. Ricky and Robert can still go as they proved a few months ago with a reign as the NWA World Tag Team Champions. If AEW wants to pay homage to the art of tag team wrestling, there are few choices better than having Ricky and Robert present.

The original Texas Outlaws, Dusty Rhodes & Dick Murdoch versus The Road Warriors? Who wins?

The Road Warriors were legit tough and bad-ass, but when Dusty got together with Murdoch, magic seemed to always happen. My money would be on the two rednecks from Texas.

The Rock has said that he’d be interested in wrestling with Daniel Bryan. Would you like to see this match happen?

Absolutely. The Most Electrifying Man in Entertainment versus The Leader Of The Yes Movement, The American Dragon Daniel Bryan. It’s money waiting to be made and one of the few dream matches left in this crazy world of ours. Hey Vince and HHH, make it happen.

Chris Jericho has “suspended” Jim Cornette from watching AEW. Thoughts?

Jericho suspends Corny from watching and Corny responds. Rating for AEW and The Jim Cornette podcast go up as people are intrigued and want to know what’s going on. They play this “feud” out on Twitter and their programs and everyone gets more views, the increased popularity, and attention. It’s a win for all involved.
