Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
FTR, Retribution, Ivan Koloff & More
August 24, 2020
It’s Monday morning and the week starts anew. Would someone please just shoot me now. *Sighs* Let’s do the Q&A. The questions are from Cheese, Matt, and Isaac. Let’s do this…
FTR has announced that Tully Blanchard is their new manager. Thoughts?
And we are now one step closer to a new “Four Horsemen” faction in AEW. I like this pairing of the “Super Brat” of the NWA/WCW and the FTR. It has an old-school feel to it and who better to learn the art of tag team wrestling from than one of the biggest legends in tag team wrestling. And unlike Arn, Tully doesn’t seem to mind getting in people’s faces and getting involved if need be. And with Tully already managing Shawn Spears, it gives the FTR another ally in their battles against the forces of AEW. Good move for all involved.
Brodie Lee beat Cody to win the TNT Championship and the Dark Order decimated Cody, Brandi & Arn Anderson in a post-match beatdown. Thoughts?
I hope that Vince McMahon is watching because that is how you make Luke Harper, now known as Brodie Lee, a star. The match was good and the beatdown afterward by the Dark Order sent a notice to everyone on the AEW Roster that Lee is dangerous and will stop at nothing for success. I like what I saw and I hope to see more as Cody & Friends seek payback in the weeks and months to come.
Thoughts on NXT Takeover XXX?
The show was good and every match was well-paced and fun to match. Pat McAffee looked great out there, but the right person won, Bay-Bey! And the Karrion match against Keith Lee was damn good as well. Despite Karrion’s injury, I think it will be good for the brand as Lee is supposedly moving to the main roster tonight. When it comes to the Takeover events, WWE almost always delivers and Takeover XXX was no exception.
Does Ivan Koloff belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
Yes, yes, a million times yes. As a former WWWF Champion and the man who ended Bruno Sammartino’s reign wasn’t enough, Koloff was a major star all over the world for many years. It should have already happened a long time ago and this matter needs to be rectified as soon as possible. If Ivan isn’t a true Hall of Fame legend, I don’t know who deserves it more.
Thoughts on the AEW departures of Sadie Gibbs & Bea Priestley?
While they’re talented performers, I never saw much in either of them or even noticed them as part of the roster before they were cut. AEW’s roster is getting bloated and they needed to cut some of the fat and with Gibbs & Priestley, they did.
Thoughts on MVP’s “The Hurt Business”?
We are the Nation… of Domination. Well, maybe not, but close enough for wrestling. It’s a strong faction with MVP, Lashley, Shelton and probably Cedric Alexander after this week, and it gives Lashley & Shelton some success and TV time after years of drifting around the company being afterthoughts. It also revitalized the character of MVP who, while never a personal favorite of mine, is a good worker and character, so that’s a plus as well. It’ll be interesting to see where all of this leads.
Is it time for the Paradigm Shift (double-armed DDT) to finally be banned in AEW?
As much as I like MJF and his attempts to take away Jon Moxley’s best weapon, it’s just another move and if they take it away, Mox will come up with three more finishers instead. So no banning of the move. Just let it be.
Team Undertaker (Undertaker, HHH, HBK) versus Team Hogan (Hulk Hogan, Sting, Goldberg) – all in their primes. Who wins?
It all depends upon who does the booking, but I would expect a double-disqualification or no-contest for this match. And if there has to be a finish, it would be Team Undertaker winning with Sting taking the fall since he’s the only one in this match who’s ego isn’t so big that he would be willing to do the honors.
Does Retribution equal a CM Punk return to WWE?
That would be nice to see and we can always hope, but I really and seriously doubt it.
