Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Willow vs The Fiend, Tessa, Cedric Alexander & More
September 17, 2020
Good morning and welcome to my nightmare. Okay, maybe not, but this is the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I have a lot of questions, courtesy of Cheese, Max, & Tony C. so there’s no time for small talk. Let’s get busy and do this…
Where will Tessa Blanchard sign?
The money is in WWE, but her dad is working for AEW. What a dilemma, right? I think that when push comes to shove, it’ll be Orlando, Florida, and the Performance Center as the next stop for Tessa. Matches against Charlotte, Asuka, Sasha, and maybe even Ronda Rousey will be too much temptation to resist, and did I mention more money? I think Tessa is WWE bound.
Jeff Hardy says he wants to bring back his “Willow” character and feud with The Fiend. Thoughts?
I’ve never been a big fan of Jeff’s Willow character, but I can see where it would be a fun and interesting match and feud to witness. And for good measure, I’d tease Finn Balor’s “Demon” as well, even if it’s just a backstage faceoff or cameo. Once we get the live audiences back for WWE events, a Willow versus Fiend feud could be a big event. WWE should give it a shot.
Who do you think the “mysterious woman” on Smackdown this past Friday was?
From what I’ve seen and heard thus far, the most likely suspect would be Carmella, who has been absent from WWE TV for a while and is due for a return. There are also those rumors of Eva Marie making a return to WWE and this would be a good way to bring her back. But I’m going outside the box and saying that it’s neither of these ladies. How about Chelsea Green, a former Impact Knockouts Champion and current love interest of Matt Cardona, who was being regularly featured on NXT, but seems to have vanished from TV as of late. She’s been long ready to come to the main roster and this could be a way to bring her up and help her make an impact. Works for me.
Your favorite masked wrestler vs your favorite face painted wrestler. Who are they and who wins?
My favorite masked wrestler has always been Bill Eadie, better known as the Masked Superstar. My favorite face-painted wrestler? How about The Great Muta, accompanied by Gary Hart of course. As to who would win if it was Masked Superstar versus The Great Muta? I think Muta would probably steal a win due to the infamous green mist and the aid of Hart from the outside. He’d win, but it would be one hell of a match in the process.
Who was the best tag team to never hold world tag team belts?
The team of Arn Anderson and Barry Windham, the Horsemen. They were magic together in that ring and the chemistry was on target. I think Arn could have a great tag team with almost anyone, but Barry was so damn good as well, it was Horsemen at their best. That they never had a chance to hold tag team gold together is a crying shame.
With both Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair currently out of action in WWE, who do you consider the “go-to” woman on the roster?
It’s between Bayley or Asuka. Bayley has stepped up her game and has become one of the best heels in wrestling today, male or female. And Asuka, fo rin-ring action and intensity, is second to none. WWE is full of talented women and may soon have Ronda back as well, but for day to day matches and activities, the two at the top are the two ladies I just mentioned. Everyone else works as filler.
Is Dominick Mysterio essentially a modern David Flair in the way he’s getting a strong push due to his father instead of his own ability?
The way Dominick is getting pushed does remind me a lot of how David Flair was pushed by WCW long before he was ready to get into the ring, but I think that unlike Flair, Dominick has a good future ahead of him and is far better prepared. His push is absolutely due to who his father is, but working with guys like Seth and Murphy, he’s only going to get better because they’re actually interested in helping him get better. Flair was dealing with ego-maniacs like Hulk Hogan and the nWo who were more just looking out for themselves and had personal grudges against his father and that hurt David far more than helped. David didn’t belong in a wrestling ring. Thus far, Dominick does.
Thoughts on the apparent break-up of Andrade, Angel Garza & Zelina Vega as a unit?
I hate to see this because to me, Andrade and Garza have been one of the most consistent and best things in WWE since the pandemic began. Vega has done an excellent job in the role of manager and while I’m happy to see her getting back to wrestling more, as evidenced by her challenge to Asuka this past week, I love her as a modern version of Nancy Benoit, aka Woman. I hope this split is only temporary and Andrade and Garza are kept together with Vega. And bring back Austin Theory too. He was a good addition to the team and I liked the whole three-man unit.
Thoughts on Cedric Alexander joining the “Hurt Business”?
It’s a good move for Alexander and gives him a more prominent role on WWE TV so I’m all for it. I’m not a big proponent of The Hurt Business, but this faction, formed by MVP, has helped give Lashley’s career far more focus than we’ve seen in a while and has resurrected the career of Shelton Benjamin so maybe it’ll do the same for Alexander. It can’t hurt.
That Miro dude that just debuted in AEW reminds me of Rusev from the WWE. Are they related?
So far as I know, they’re not related in any way, shape, or form. Miro has blond hair and Rusev liked to crush things. No relation at all. (Rolls eyes).
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered in a future edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A, give me a shout and we can do this. Until the next time, take care of yourself and watch out for the crazies. They’re out there. I’ll see you at the matches. Love ya!
