WWE NXT Halloween Havoc
Thoughts & Predictions (Updated)
October 27, 2020
Coming up on Wednesday night is the return of an old WCW stalwart concept, the show known as Halloween Havoc. But it isn’t WCW bringing it back. Instead, we’re going to see it done WWE/NXT style. Four matches have been announced, with two of them featuring the return of the “Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal” concept. In other words, expect anything because anything can be expected to happen. It’s prediction time. Let’s do this.
This match was added by WWE late Tuesday night so let’s add it to this column as well.
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar vs. Jake Atlas (Non-Title Match)
These two men and their respective factions had a slobber-knocker of a brawl last week and even though Escobar’s team, Legado del Fantasma won the match, Atlas took the opportunity to put Escobar through a table. And now, here we are. I expect that others will get involved and we’ll probably have shenanigans out the yazoo, but the key here is that this match is non-title. The Cruiserweight Championship is NOT on the line. That means the champ loses and the challenger wins, thus setting him up for a future title opportunity down the road.
Winner: Jake Atlas
Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal: WWE NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai vs. Candice LaRae.
Has WWE/NXT even announced what kind of matches will be options for the Spin The Wheel concept? They may have, but maybe I just missed it. I’m way behind on watching NXT, just watching highlights on YouTube instead of the entire program. It’s Shirai versus LaRae in what should be an epic match. Io is so good, but LaRae has been on fire ever since she debuted in NXT, and being the relationship partner of Johnny Gargano doesn’t hurt either. I smell a title change in the air on Wednesday, or maybe that’s just my cat’s litter box. Damn cat! I think we’ll end up with a new Women’s Champion.
Winner and NEW NXT Women’s Champion: Candice LaRae
Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal: WWE NXT North American Champion Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano.
Damian Priest is a character made for a show like Halloween Havoc. He’s unique, charismatic, and damn good in the ring. Gargano is excellent as well and this will be another match of epicness. Is that even a word? Well, it should be because it describes what this match should be. And Gargano will come so close, but when the final bell rings, we’ll see Priest as still the NXT North American Champion. So I have said and so it shall be.
Winner and STILL NXT North American Champion: Damian Priest
Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Gonzales.
Ripley is so damn good, why is she still on the NXT show and has not been moved to the main roster, I do not know. Oh wait, they did, but Vince is a whack-job sometimes and didn’t see anything with her. Dumb-ass! Gonzales is a good worker and she may give Rhea a bit of a fight, but the outcome of this match is in no doubt.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
Haunted House of Terror match: Dexter Lumis vs. Cameron Grimes
What is a Haunted House of Terror Match? And why do I have a feeling that WWE agent (and the former Abyss, Joseph Parks) might have something to do with this match and it’s formation? It should be ooky, spooky, mysterious, and kooky. As to who the winner will be, I have no idea. I really need to catch up on my NXT. But I’ve always been a fan of Cameron Grimes and his name, Grimes, seems to fit the whole Halloween theme, so I’ll give him the nod here.
Winner: Cameron Grimes
And that’s it for the matches that have been announced. I think we’ll probably get another match added at the last minute, but as to who or what, I have no idea. Shotzi Blackheart is the hostess so good for her. Oh yeah, one more thing. A Halloween Costume Contest between Wade Barrett and Vic Joseph. I have some bad news for Joseph. Wade will win. Is that it? I guess it is.
