Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Aiden English, Ric Flair, John Cena & More
January 24, 2021
It’s Sunday morning and you know what that means. Time to talk some professional wrestling and do that Ultimate Q&A thing. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Who was Ric Flair’s greatest rival in professional wrestling?
This is a tough call since Ric has had memorable programs with so many wrestlers over the years. Was it Steamboat? Was it Wahoo? How about Blackjack Mulligan? Dusty Rhodes? Sting? Randy Savage? Hulk Hogan? Triple H? Shawn Michaels? Ric had so many great matches and great feuds over the span of nearly forty years. I almost forgot about Harley Race, Kerry Von Erich, and Roddy Piper. I can’t make this call so I’ll go with what Ric said on the last edition of WCW Monday Nitro. He said it was Sting so that will be my pick as well.
Should AEW hire Aiden English and make him part of the roster?
He’s a good worker, a good promo guy, and has experience as an announcer and commentator so English is pretty much the complete performer and total package. If there’s a role for him in AEW and he can be used in a productive manner that benefits both he and the company, I would say give him a try. If AEW was to hire him just to be hiring him, I would say no since the roster is large enough and getting bloated as it is.
Could you imagine a partnership between WWE and NJPW? Would it be better than Impact and AEW’s partnership?
I just can’t see WWE working long term with any other company and giving them equal status. Maybe for a match or two, but WWE doesn’t play well with others and I don’t think a partnership with New Japan (or anyone for that matter) would work. As for AEW and Impact, it’s been interesting and I’m looking forward to see where this ends up.
What wrestler has fallen the most? On top of the world/good spot on cards and now you say…” what happened?”
I remember Greg Valentine being brought into WCW to do jobs and was wondering, “What the fuck!”, and that was twenty years ago. Ric Flair’s personal life has been a yo-yo from the top to the bottom and back many times, but he always manages to get bailed out because he’s Ric Flair. I guess either Tammy Sytch (Sunny), from the biggest Diva in the world to bad porn movies and prison would be my pick. Chyna is another prime example of this, from the top of the WWE to “One Night In Chyna” and her eventual death. So sad.
Ryback has allegedly been hinting at a future deal with AEW. Thoughts.
Ryback is a moron and AEW would be stupid to bring him in for any reason to infect the locker room with his unique brand of poison. I can’t see it happening.
Should AEW absorb Impact? Take all of their talents and make Tuesday night their night?
The AEW roster is already too big and bloated as it is and adding the entirety of Impact wouldn’t do anything for anyone. Better to leave things as they are with two companies that occasionally work together rather than one big mess of a company that would not benefit anyone.
Imagine this. Brock Lesnar enters and wins the Royal Rumble. Then he challenges Roman Reigns for Wrestlemania. Which one would Paul Heyman side and be aligned with?
I’d love to see this and it would make for some mighty good TV, especially with the promos by Paul as he tries to play both sides to benefit himself. Book it McMahon.
Rumors are that John Cena will be a part of Wrestlemania 37. If he returns and wrestles, who would you like to see him wrestle against?
My first choice would be Triple H so that it wouldn’t take away a member of the current active roster to be buried at the hands of a part-timer, but Cena is still popular and important to the WWE fans, unlike some others I might name (Goldberg), so a match against a current star could work, provided that Cena gives a great match and allows the other talent to go over cleanly and in a strong manner. How about John Cena versus Cesaro? It would be good and give a great push to Cesaro’s status in the WWE. Or hell, just have R-Truth make the challenge to wrestle his childhood hero and it’s Truth versus Cena with Truth going over. Works for me, but Cena versus Cesaro would be better.
And there you go. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you’d like to see answered are welcome. Give me a shout. And with that, we’re out of here. Thank you for reading. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
