Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Blood & Guts, Tessa Blanchard, Perfect Promos & More
May 2, 2021
Salutations and how the hell are you? Let’s do the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m running behind (as usual) so no time for small talk. Let’s do this.
Will “Blood and Guts” top 2 million in the ratings?
No, I seriously doubt it. AEW’s biggest rating so far was 1.2 million viewers and a jump of nearly a million more viewers in a week seems highly unlikely. I can see between 1.2 and 1.3 million viewers tuning in for the Blood & Guts match between The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle. Hell, I’m even planning on watching if I get home from work in time Wednesday night. It’ll do well, but realistically, two million viewers just aren’t going to happen.
Who do you think is the worst wrestler in AEW?
What’s her name? The woman who teamed with Shaq and is now supposedly a hot commodity for AEW managers? Jade Cargill. She has a great look, but in that ring, she hasn’t shown me anything at all yet.
Tessa Blanchard and her husband Daga are in talks to sign with All Elite Wrestling. Thoughts?
Tessa would be a great asset to the AEW Women’s Division which is sorely in need of some strong female talent and Daga is a talented wrestler as well from what I’ve seen of him so I have no issues with AEW wanting to sign these two. And hopefully, with Tessa’s father Tully Blanchard there, as part of The Pinnacle, Tessa won’t have the issues she had as part of Impact Wrestling.
Sting & Lex Lugar versus Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins. Who wins?
I always liked seeing Lex & Sting team up in WCW and they were a damn good team, but let’s be honest here. Roman and Seth are far better in-ring talents and wrestlers than either Sting or especially Lex and were a far more coherent tag team. Roman and Seth would win.
Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage versus Triple H & HBK. Who wins?
This would be one hell of a match to see, but can you imagine all the backstage politics that would be at play here. I would have HHH & HBK go over, but if I know how WWE works, Vince would put Hogan & Savage over at the end of a great brawl that would be so damn good, no one would care who comes out on top. And HHH would take the fall because he’s a company man and it’s best for business. So with all of that in mind, the Mega-Powers would win this battle. And DX would bury them so badly on RAW the next night in a promo, that HHH & HBK would win the war.
Who had the better career? Bret Hart or Randy Savage?
Both had amazing careers full of ups and downs, high points & low points, many titles, and respect from their peers and fans all over the world. It’s like comparing pineapples & bananas. Bret is so bitter and self-absorbed, I think he’s miserable and can’t enjoy the career and legacy he’s left behind. Macho didn’t seem bitter and is probably better remembered in the history books so just for the sake of an answer, I’ll say the better career in the big picture of things belonged to Macho Man Randy Savage.
Who in your opinion cut the perfect promo? The kind that you believed every word and it drew you in to watch the show.
Go watch any promo by Ole Anderson, especially when he was talking about his feuds with Dusty Rhodes or when he did the heel-turn on Thunderbolt Patterson in order to form a team with Arn Anderson. If you don’t believe every single word he’s saying, you have no soul. Ole was the master of the promo and when he said it, it was real. ‘Nuff said!
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered in a future column, please give me a shout, and let’s talk. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
