Ultimate Wrestling Q&A: Samoa Joe, Edge, Cesaro & Much More…

Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Samoa Joe, Edge, Cesaro & Much More
May 28, 2021

I am still running so far behind with these Q&A’s, it’s not even funny anymore. It’s an extra-long edition of the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A with lots of questions about all sorts of stuff. Are you ready? Let’s do this.

Why do you think that most big companies don’t allow female wrestlers to work to their full skill and, instead, concentrate on the male wrestlers to do the huge stuff?

I think it would be because using the men as the top guys and featured stars is the way that wrestling has always worked and no one at the top in WWE, AEW, Impact, New Japan, etc, are comfortable enough to rock the boat and change the status quo enough to rely entirely on the women as strongly as they do the men. Is it a chauvinistic attitude? Of course, it is, but there is nothing more stubborn than a wrestling promoter who is determined to do it his way.

Why do you think Jim Cornette hates AEW so much?

I think he explains it very well in that it’s not that he hates AEW, but he doesn’t like the way they seem to mock and spit on the very business that he’s devoted his life to. Corny is a traditionalist and AEW is very much anything but 80% of the time. And since Cornette is a man who tends to speak his mind, he gripes and fusses about it. Nothing more.

If you could resurrect any Stable from the past today. Which would it be? And who would you have to fill it? (Ignoring which wrestling company they work for).

I’d bring back a new version of the “Dangerous Alliance”, under the guidance of Paul Heyman, with Madusa as his assistant. And the team would be Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Cesaro, CM Punk, and The Usos.

What would you like as Samoa Joe’s next venture?

I’d like to see Joe pop up as part of the NWA and challenge NWA World Champion Nick Aldis. That would be epic.

Regarding Charlotte Flair, 1. Is her returning ruining Asuka? 2. Is there any plastic surgery she is yet to have?

I do think that Asuka is getting the raw deal due to the return of Charlotte, but as talented as Asuka is, it’s only a matter of time before she’s back among the top ladies in WWE. And so far as her surgery goes, who cares. That’s her business and her business only. I think she looks great. Not as good as Ivory (Lisa Moretti) or Asuka, but Charlotte looks damn good!

If you could move one person from WWE to AEW and one from AEW to WWE, who would it be?

From WWE to AEW, I’d move Cesaro. And from AEw to WWE, I’d go with Sammy Guevera.

If you could bring back a finisher that isn’t used anymore or reestablish a transition move as a finisher, what would it be and why?

I’d bring back the claw. As the Von Erichs, Baron Von Raschke, and Blackjack Mulligan all proved time and time again, it can be a great finisher and extremely effective with the right person applying the hold.

If the WWE was to introduce a new title, what gimmick match or stipulation or something similar do you think they would attach to it?

I would like to see a mixed-tag team title and use a concept or tournament like the Mixed Match Challenge (remember that?) to determine the initial champs.

A tag team of Brian Pillman and Randy Savage? What are your thoughts on that?

I just can’t see it working. Too much testosterone and intensity to effectively work together as a tag team.

Out of the long list, what has been the most controversial moment in all of wrestling? (Based on everyone’s reaction and your opinion as well).

Some will say the Montreal Screwjob. Some will say when Vince “bought” WCW. Some will go with the legendary Black Saturday. My own personal choice would be when Owen Hart fell to his death.

When Edge returns, who would you like to see him start a rivalry with, and WHY? Follow up, would you like to see him return as a face or heel?

I wouldn’t mind seeing Edge have a few battles against Seth Rollins, mainly because it would be a great feud and be fun to watch. As for his status with the fans, it doesn’t matter what he does. Edge will always be a face.

Do you think Cesaro can ultimately be the one to dethrone Roman? If not, who do you reckon?

I am a big fan of Cesaro, but I don’t think he’s the one who will take out Roman. I’m thinking more along the lines of a certain Beast named Brock Lesnar.

With the argument that Kenny Omega is the greatest wrestler today, let me ask you, What do you think of his promos/mic skills?

Kenny is a good talker, but so far as being the greatest wrestler today, I do not necessarily agree with that argument. Not even close.

Based on his constant in-ring work and recent match with Riddle, do you think there is potential for Xavier Woods to be top title material?

I think Xavier Woods is extremely underrated and would be a great choice to have a run with one of the mid-card singles titles. He can talk better than most and the man has skills. He definitely has the potential to be a top guy for WWE.

If Finn Balor fails to recapture the NXT championship (which I believe he will) what do think WWE/NXT should do with him next? Where does he go then?

If Balor doesn’t end up as the NXT Champion, I think a trip back to the main roster to put some fear into Roman Reigns would be a great next move for the sometimes Demon.

If you could put yourself in the crowd for one wrestling show in history what would it be?

Starcade 83: A Flair For The Gold. That was the true grand-daddy of pay-per-views and I remember the build for that show so vividly. I would truly have loved to be there.

If AEW were to add another title, what should it be and why?

AEW doesn’t need any more titles, but if they did add one, it should be a Trios/Six-Man Tag Team Championship. There are so many factions and multi-man units in AEW, a six-man title just seems like the best choice.

Why does it seem so hard to have good wrestling commentators?

Because companies like WWE don’t want people to call wrestling. They want people to tell stories and promote everything except for what is happening in the ring with the wrestlers. Good wrestling commentators are out there, but unless they’re sports entertainment commentators as well, they’re not what the big companies are looking for.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Any comments, thoughts, or questions you’d like to see answered, feel free and drop me a line. Until the next time, take care of yourself and stay safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
