Tossing Salt Presents:
Ultimate Wrestling Q&A
Cody, Miro, Zelina Vega & Much More
May 25, 2021
The questions have been piling up. It’s time to play catch-up and clean out this mailbox. Let’s do this.
Thoughts on Cody Rhodes now referring to himself as the “American Dream”?
He did it one time and now seems to have dropped that nickname so I’m assuming it was something that seemed like a good idea, but with more thought, Cody decided against it for the long run. He’s abandoned his efforts to secure the copyright to that nickname so I wouldn’t give it much more thought. Cody is Cody and if he needs a nickname, “The American Nightmare” or “Brandi’s Bitch” will suffice. There is only one American Dream in pro wrestling and while he may be from the loins of Dusty, Cody isn’t it.
Thoughts on Miro’s winning the AEW TNT Championship?
Now we’ll maybe get to see what made Miro, then known as Rusev, special in the WWE and no more of the video-game nonsense. If that’s the deal, I’m glad to see Miro as the new champion.
Did WWE drop the ball hard with the Ascension?
In NXT, under the guidance of HHH, The Ascension was a strong team with a big future, but after Vince and the WWE Creative Team had their fun, the team was pretty much just a waste of space on the roster. So would I say that WWE dropped the ball? Hell yes!
It looks as if Zelina Vega may be returning to the WWE. Thoughts?
If Vega and WWE have managed to work out their issues, this is major good news for both parties. Vega is a good worker and did an excellent job as a manager and is a huge asset for any wrestling company. And while Impact or AEW might seem good, Vega will make far more money and have far more opportunities working with WWE than either of those companies. All in all, I hope all can be resolved and Vega is soon back on WWE TV. I know that Angel Garza probably agrees with me as well.
Who do you consider the greatest Intercontinental champ of all time?
It has to be The Honky Tonk Man. If you don’t believe me, just ask him. He’ll tell you.
Who was the better manager? JJ Dillon or Bobby Heenan?
Different managers with different styles and both were excellent in their own ways, it’s not possible to determine who’s better. For the WWE and their style of booking, Heenan was better since he was as much comedy as serious and fit the territory and times. James J. Dillon was more serious and I think had that aura of credibility about him that was more NWA/Florida/WCW orientated and for the more serious wrestlers, he was a better fit. So who was the better manager? Both rocked!
It always annoys me when WWE opens a show with a World Title Match, how do you feel about that?
I personally feel that a title match should be saved for the end of the night as the main event to allow the announcers to promote the match and build some anticipation and hopefully attract viewers and fans. WWE doesn’t seem to agree with me though.
Think we get Willow vs Demon vs Fiend in WWE?
WWE has teased a Demon versus Bray a few years ago, but Jeff Hardy’s Willow character has never been promoted strongly in the WWE and I doubt if it ever will be. So looking at the possibility of this match, I would say it’s one we’ll probably never see, not in WWE anyways.
Do you think we will see a Hardy Boys vs Young Bucks match in AEW at some point?
When Jeff’s contract with WWE expires, I would say that if AEW is still in business at that point, then this match would be a strong possibility.
What does it say about WWE that both Wrestlemania main events this year were Smackdown matches? Have they just kinda given up on Raw being any kind of good?
It says that Roman is the strongest character currently in WWE and they wanted to do a big push with Bianca Belair. I don’t think that WWE has given up on RAW, but the majority of their focus was on Roman and Bianca and trying to put their best foot forward. And they did.
If Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns hold on to their respective titles until Survivor Series, who should win that match?
If it comes down to a Lashley versus Roman match at Survivor Series, there should not be a clear winner. With Usos, MVP, Paul Heyman, and maybe even a returning Beast, there are plenty of ways to have a great non-finish and that’s the way WWE should go.
Who do you think is next in line to challenge Bobby Lashley for the title or do you think they will prolong this Drew v Bobby all the way to Summerslam?
I think we’ll extend the Lashley feud with Drew until Summerslam and have the big blow-off then, but it looks as if Braun will still be sticking around in the title scene for a bit as well. I wouldn’t mind seeing Randy Orton and Riddle step into the title picture and sometime leading up to Mania, how about the man they call Edge?
Do you think that Tessa Blanchard can beat Brock Lesnar in a match?
Maybe in a checkers match or a cooking showdown, but so far as a wrestling match goes, I wouldn’t think too highly of her chances.
And there you go for now. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you’d like to see answered, just give me a shout. Take care and stay safe and I’ll see you at the matches. Be good!
