Imagine my surprise when I went over to visit http://www.411mania.com and saw that Fact or Fiction is back. All I can say is, “Yay!”. So here’s how it goes. Jake Chambers, from 411mania.com, provides statements about the world’s greatest form of entertainment, professional wrestling. And then, I either agree or disagree, using the terms “Fact” or “Fiction”. It’s simple, but always fun. And it’s back. Let’s do this.

Statement #1: AEW is a better wrestling company than WWE.

FICTION: AEW is damn good, it’s fresh, and is quickly gaining momentum, but WWE has a history of over fifty years, and to be honest, Vince McMahon has forgotten more about promoting professional wrestling than Tony Khan has even come close to learning as of yet. AEW is growing and learning and getting better all the time, but the WWE is professional wrestling. It’s just that simple and to the point. Both are good at what they do and both are entertaining in their own ways and this is not a slam on AEW, but AEW is still new, developing, and trying to find its direction and way. WWE knows what it is and where it wants to be. It’s just that simple.

Statement #2: Roman Reigns is the best pro-wrestler in the world.

FICTION: Roman is peaking right now and is one of the best characters currently on our television each and every week, but the best in the world? He’s good, no doubt, but is he the best? I see Bryan Danielson. I see Cesaro. I see Asuka. I see Charlotte Flair. I see Eric Young. I see Mike Bennett. Hell, I’ll even give Omega some credit. Roman is on a roll and damn good and I can arguably see a place for him in most people’s top ten of current stars, but the absolute best? Nah, I don’t think so.

Statement #3: Repo-Man was a cool gimmick.

FACT: I thought it was kind of stupid at the time, but Barry Darsow made it work and the character now holds a warm spot in my heart all these years later. So yeah, Repo is cool. ‘Nuff said!

Statement #4: WWE should stop doing shows in Saudi Arabia.

FICTION: Politically correct or not, the Saudi shows bring in major money for the WWE and are, to coin a phrase, “best for business”. And since WWE is a business where the goal is to make money and show a profit for their stock owners while providing quality entertainment for their fans, these annual events allow them to do both. So they should continue, at least in my opinion.

Statement #5: Watching wrestling is better than good food or having sex.

FICTION: I wish I could say Fact to this and there was a time that I would have, but unfortunately, most of what passes for wrestling these days in WWE and AEW is kind of sad and rough to watch in comparison to the quality that I grew up and loved for so many years. It’s still in my top choices of things to talk about, watch, and enjoy, as is evidenced by the very existence of this website and 90% of the material I post here at DougMaynard.com, but the stellar moments are few and far between and good food or sex is more of a highlight regularly in my current life. I appreciate a good meal. I appreciate a sexy man with a perfect ass. And I appreciate a classic angle and match between two or more talented wrestlers. But what makes the top spot varies from day to day. Sad, but true.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions if you have any are welcome and appreciated. Thanks to Jake Chambers and 411mania.com for providing the statements I’ve provided comments on. And I guess that’s all for now. Take care and stay safe and I’ll see you at the matches.
