Happy New Year’s Eve. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
There’s always lots of talk about WWE talent making the jump to AEW… But who do you think will be the first high-profile performer to go in the opposite direction?
Brian Cage is the first name that came to mind as soon as I saw this question. He’s kind of vanished on AEW TV but has so much potential and an upside, I can easily see him making that transaction from AEW to WWE. I could also see Powerhouse Hobbes eventually making that transition at some point as well.
Which one was the worst ran company? TNA or WCW?
TNA is still in business, despite changing networks and owners on several occasions. WCW lost so much money, Time Warner pulled them off of TV and sold the assets to Vince and the WWE. I think that says everything that needs to be said.
In the old days, I always wondered why during interviews the heels always said the announcer’s first and last name. They would start out with “Tony Schiavone, the Horsemen are in town” or “Bob Caudle, the NWA world champion is here.” I noticed that it was almost always the heels who said first and last name, but rarely the baby faces. Thoughts?
I think that it was used as a way for the heels to establish their dominance in that situation and in the interview. It’s a power-play and show of disrespect towards the announcer to show that they’re in control and should be the focus of attention. At least that’s my theory.
Alberto Del Rio, in a recent interview, teased a possible AEW debut. Thoughts?
Del Rio is so full of crap. He’s a major pimple on the ass of pro wrestling and these days makes Sunny look respectable in comparison. No major company, be it AEW, WWE, Impact Wrestling, etc, is going to touch Del Rio at this point, or at least that shouldn’t. He’s a trouble magnet and problems just waiting to happen.
Ric Flair recently spoke about how he’d like to see a match between Charlotte and Tessa Blanchard. Would you like to see this match?
I would love to see this match happen and it should happen. WWE should reach out to Tessa and bring her in. She’s definitely a great wrestler who would add much to the roster and I can picture Tessa having great matches against Bayley, Becky, Natalya, and the rest of the WWE Women’s roster. AEW would benefit greatly from having Tessa as part of their roster, but I think WWE would provide for more money, better matches, and be a better career move.
So my question for you today is knowing the talent that Glen Jacobs possesses from his 2 decades run as Kane, do you think if he was originally given the Diesel gimmick in 1993 he would have been successful in the gimmick? As successful as Kevin Nash?
It’s hard to picture Jacobs as any other character besides Kane. When I think of Diesel, I think of Kevin Nash. I think the gimmicks worked well for the men that they were given to and as great as Jacobs was, he made a great Kane, but a great Diesel? I think that gimmick would have gone in the same box as Issac Yankum. It wouldn’t have worked.
And that’s all for now. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. I hope you have a very Happy New Year and the future is good for you. Take care and be safe. I’ll see you at the matches.
