Welcome to the one wrestling piece where I don’t wear an octopus on my head. Not saying that I won’t if my readers ask for it, but not yet. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
I keep hearing that Judgement Day is getting ready to go all supernatural and goofy. So what should Edge do to combat his former teammates?
If Edge is forced to fight a faction that has weird powers and strange abilities, the best thing to do would be to assemble a faction of his own to counter the strangeness. The only big question is who? Well, there’s a vampire out there that was once aligned with. He’s a broody sort, but I’m sure Gangrel would come if WWE called. And since The Judgement Day has a Demon, maybe Edge should recruit a Fiend to provide a counter. Give Edge these two to work with, as well as his Glamazon mate to combat Rhea Ripley and there you go. Lots of strangeness mixed with great wrestling. I can smell the ratings already.
3MB (Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal) versus RTC (Stevie Richards, Val Venis, The Goodfather) w/Ivory. Who wins?
This would actually be a good match, with lots of great wrestling mixed with comedy and chaos. 3MB has two future World Champions on their roster, and let’s don’t even start to talk about Heath’s kids. 3MB gets the win.
Should AEW have brand splits?
Nope. Tony Khan can barely book two shows a week with one very packed roster. Two rosters and two brands would confuse him too much and be a disaster waiting to happen.
Jeff Hardy. Thoughts?
I’m not sure what to say here. Jeff has demons and he needs to find a way to make peace with these demons before they kill him. Tony Khan has suspended Hardy indefinitely from AEW, without pay, and offered to help put Jeff through a rehab program, much like WWE did before Hardy refused and walked out of the company. It’s pretty obvious that Jeff needs help and wrestling should be the last thing on his mind for now. The video where he was stopped was hard to watch and this is coming from someone who has been in that exact same situation. My thoughts? Get help Jeff and focus on yourself. Best of luck to you.
Thoughts on Tessa Blanchard, who got released by WoW?
Tessa seems to be a walking timebomb who can’t seem to stay anywhere for long. It’s a shame because she’s arguably one of the best female wrestlers in the world today, but the attitude is screwing that up. I guess she wants to be the female version of Austin Aries. Who knows? I’d like to see her get her head together, lose the attitude, and go to WWE. Tessa versus Charlotte is a match that really needs to happen. But she’s burned bridges with WWE, Impact Wrestling, and now WoW, and AEW doesn’t want to talk to her. It’s crazy. I hope that one day, we get to see her get to work for AEW or WWE and be a big star, but unless things change with her, I don’t see it ever happening.
John Cena versus Kenny Omega. Who wins?
Easy answer. Cena wins. Omega may be able to beat blow-up dolls and young girls, but with Cena, he’ll never see it coming and Cena will take him down. Winner: John Cena.
Was watching clips on Rasslin Network and one was Dick Slater as a face.
Just didn’t seem right. Slater just seems more natural as a heel. Who else have you seen as both a face and heel and thought they just didn’t work as a face?
The first name that came to mind was Ole Anderson. Ole was a face for a few years in Georgia before turning on Dusty Rhodes in the cage, and it was a weird time. Seeing Ole teaming with Tommy Rich or Mr. Wrestling II, but knowing what a despicable asshole he always was, it just felt wrong. That’s why his explanation after the fact about it all being a plan, how he waited and bided his time to get back at Rhodes, made so much sense. Also, Jim Cornette, during the few times he was cheered by fans, never felt right either.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, or any questions you may have are welcome and appreciated. And with that, I’m out of here. Take care, be good, and watch out for any foreign objects. I’ll see you at the matches.
