It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. Let’s do this.
Lou Thesz & Buddy Rogers versus The Young Bucks. Who wins?
This would be a good match for about the first five minutes or so. I’m sure the flamboyant Rogers would love showing off against The Bucks for a few minutes to get the crowd into the match. And then Thesz, the shooter and hooker of the team, would get annoyed and have both Bucks crying and screaming in agony with a submission hold. The two former NWA Champions would win and win easily.
Jerry Jarrett passed away earlier today. Thoughts?
A legendary promoter and the co-founder of TNA/Impact Wrestling, Jarrett left a mark on the business that is second to none and has influenced so many people. From all indications, he was cheap on the pay-offs in Memphis, but an awesome person. Rest in Peace, Mr. Jarrett. You will be missed.
Whatever happened to the ranking system that AEW used to use?
Just like everything else in AEW, it got lost in the shuffle and forgotten about. It didn’t add anything to the AEW product in my opinion and isn’t missed. That being said, they’ll probably have a big update and bring it back next week. After all, it is AEW, right?
AEW will seemingly start doing house shows next month. Good idea or not?
A very good idea in my opinion because it gives AEW a chance to make more money, plus gives the AEW talents a chance to wrestle more often and stay in a ring shape. The probably with the loaded roster and no house shows is that the talent is only in the ring maybe once a month if that and skills getting rusty, thus injuries happen as a result. It’s a win-win for the company and the talent and is long overdue.
Sixty-Minute Iron Man Match: Nick Bockwinkel versus Harley Race. Who wins?
Both men are so good, it’d be a wrestling clinic to be sure. And since I’ve always been an NWA guy, Harley would win.
Thoughts on Ken Patera?
A very underrated Olympian athlete who had a great career in the ’70s and ’80s. Patera was not the most charismatic of performers, but he participated in several of the World’s Strongest Man competitions, won many titles, and was a true legit superstar in every definition of the word. Unfortunately, the main thing people remember about Patera these days is the incident at a Mcdonalds’ that caused him and Mr. Saito to be arrested and do some prison time, but his career was so much more than that. And his swinging full nelson was beyond compare. A true wrestling icon. ‘Nuff said!
How come Tajiri isn’t in the Hall of Fame yet?
I have no idea why, but I think it’s just a matter of time. He should probably be inducted whenever William Regal goes in. It would make for some great TV.
Fatal 4-Way Match: John Cena versus The Rock versus Stone Cold Steve Austin versus Hulk Hogan. Who wins?
The four biggest money makers in WWE history, this would be the ultimate clash of champions to be sure. As for who wins, anyone but Hogan would be acceptable to me. Let’s go with Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Fatal 4-Way Match: Shawn Michaels versus Bret Hart versus Eddie Guerrero versus Bryan Danielson. Who wins?
He lies. He cheats. He steals. And he wins. Eddie Guerrero takes the win.
There has been a lot of interaction lately between Shawn Michaels and Grayson Waller on NXT. Do you think we’ll be getting an HBK return to the ring because of this?
While I would love to see HBK come back for “one more match”, I don’t think that’s where this is heading. More likely, someone will come to HBK’s defense after Waller gets too physical and this will all be used to promote a feud for Waller against that person. Who that person may be, I have no idea, but I think that’s what is coming.
Bron Breakker is scheduled to defend the NXT Championship next week against Jinder Mahal. Thoughts?
Jinder adds NXT gold to his resume while Breakker moves up to the main roster and challenges GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship. Sounds like a plan to me. Book it, Hunter.
And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. And with that, I’m out of here. I have things to do and it’s going to be a long day. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
