It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug. Let’s rock!

Should The Rock win the Royal Rumble?

Nope. The Royal Rumble should be used to elevate a talent and the Rock is already a top guy, albeit a part-timer and semi-retired. Let the Rock do his thing and let the Rumble have its moment. They should be kept apart.

Going head-to-head on Tuesday night, NXT did 874K/0.24. AEW did 329K/0.10 last night. Do we have a new Tuesday Night Wars? Thoughts?

And the funny thing here is not only did AEW Dynamite bomb in the ratings, but the ratings for Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision added together for the entire week were still less than the number of viewers that NXT drew. It’s not a Tuesday night war, but a full massacre.

Who do you think will be the AEW world champion this time next year? Darby Allen, MJF, Jay White or Adam Cole BayBay!

Let’s go with Jay White. The dude has skills and he wrestles in Japan which is everything Tony likes in a wrestler. Either White or else Moxley will have it again. One or the other.

Who do you think the men’s BREAKOUT STAR of the year is?

Let’s go with Main Event Jey Uso. He’s been around for a while, but winning his first singles championship has really taken his career to new levels. The dude is YEET!

Who do you think the women’s BREAKOUT STAR of the year is?

Liv Morgan. Allowing her to pair up with Dom and be the bad girl that everyone hates has worked wonders. She went from change-the-channel to must-see-tv. Liv has grown so much in such a short time.

What is the biggest problem with AEW?

No structure. The booking is terrible and nothing seems to make sense. Whatever happened two weeks ago makes no difference. There is no continuity to be found. It’s all just thrown out therewith no true purpose and it shows.

Would Barry Windham have made a good World Champion for either WCW or WWF?

In the ring, absolutely. Windham had a ton of natural ability and could have a great match with anyone. He did a run as the NWA Champion. But Barry’s problem was a lack of discipline. He rarely saw the inside of a gym and I’ve heard more than one person say that so long as Barry had women and money, he didn’t give a damn. He was content. That’s the wrong mental attitude to be the top guy for a promotion.

Could Bryan Danielson be compared to Bob Backlund in terms of wrestling style and personality?

Both are excellent wrestlers, but I don’t see it in comparing the two. Backlund was Backlund and Danielson was the American Dragon, Bryan Danielson. They’re both great talents and a little bit vanilla, but that’s where the comparisons end.

Hulk Hogan & Mr. T versus Roman Reigns & Logan Paul. Who wins?

Hogan would fight it every step of the way, but Roman & Paul would win this one.

What are your thoughts on Superfly Jimmy Snuka?

I first remember seeing Snuka in 1978 when he and Paul Orndorff won the NWA Tag Team Championship titles working for Crockett. He turned heel and had Buddy Rogers come in as his manager for a while. After Rogers left the territory, he was managed by Gene Anderson and teamed regularly with Ray Stevens. He was a physical beast and impressive in the ring. He then went to the WWF, again with Buddy Rogers and then Captain Lou Albano, and was the perfect rival for then WWWF Champion Bob Backlund. As we learned later, he had some major issues and allegedly murdered his girlfriend. Snuka is a great character, a good wrestler, and a lousy human being.

And there you go. My thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts, and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Be sure to like, share, and subscribe. And with that, let’s wrap it up for now. Take care and be well, my friends. I’ll see you at the matches.
