Welcome to the show. It’s the only pro wrestling Q&A that matters. You have questions and I have answers. It’s the Ultimate Wrestling Q&A. I’m Doug, your party host and Guiding Light. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
Will we ever see a WWE Championship defended in the Royal Rumble again? Do you think it’s a good idea?
It’s pro wrestling, so never say never. It’s not very likely, but circumstances change and one can never truly say it can’t happen.
What’s up with this whole “winner of Royal Rumble will go on to main event WrestleMania” thing? Neither Charlotte Flair nor Jey Uso are closing the show.
They’re wrestling for World Championship titles, which I and most others would consider a main event spot, regardless of where the match is located on the card. It’s WrestleMania and every match is a potential main event.
Do you think CM Punk is happy he’s finally closing a Wrestlemania?
I’m sure he’s happy now and can cross this off his bucket list. And on the day after Mania, he’ll just find another goal to focus on instead. That’s just how Punk seems to roll.
I have a team consisting of Harley Race, Bruno Sammartino, Terry Funk, and Bruiser Brody. Who would you handpick as your team to face and defeat this team?
4 of the best of the best together. How can anyone work and challenge that team? By finding 4 more of the best who can at least equal the talent and greatness. My team? Nick Bockwinkle, Vader, Dusty Rhodes, and Brock Lesnar. Now, hit that bell.
What are your thoughts on Jacob Fatu?
Fatu has made a huge impact in a short amount of time and is one of the hardest-hitting, most solid performers in WWE right now. He just exudes confidence and mayhem, with great facial expressions and aura of badass. Fatu is a future champion for sure.
What qualities do you need to become great at Promos?
A natural ability to tell a story, project to the audience, and exude confidence with every word, getting your meaning across with every word and movement. If you believe it, the audience will too.
Ric Flair, Bret Hart, and Sting versus The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, Dennis Condrey) w/ Jim Cornette. Who wins?
Ric and Bret would get into a squabble. Sting would try to play peacemaker. Jim Cornette would take advantage of the discourse and cause a distraction. The Express would take advantage and Bobby Eaton would manage to roll up Flair and the pin. The heels would then celebrate until Sting and Bret clear the ring after the fact. The Midnight Express wins.
Who would be on your Mt. Rushmore of WCW Monday Nitro?
The nWo (Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash), Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, and Scott Steiner.
Who should Rusev feud with when he makes his debut in WWE?
When WWE resumes the celebration of Rusev Day, I think a program of Rusev versus Kevin Owens would be a good way to start. Two big men with great power facing off as Rusev reestablishes his credibility with the WWE Universe. Works for me.
Chelsea Green is Canadian. Should she rename the WWE Women’s United States Championship to be called the Women’s Canadian Championship, much like Lance Storm did in WCW?
It’s a great stunt to generate heat, and maybe somewhere down the line, if Chelsea wants to go full heel, it could be something. But for now, Chelsea is better off just staying the course and continuing on her current track. If it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it. She’s already the longest-running Women’s United States Champion of all time and pretty damn amazing. No need to screw that up.
