WWE Battleground Pay Per View Predictions
October 3, 2013
We’re just a few days away from the WWE’s new pay-per-view spectacular, coming up this Sunday from Buffalo, NY. And of course, a pay-per-view means it’s prediction time. So let’s just get right to it, shall we?
*WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton to name new champion.
If Orton wins the title, then the feud and this storyline is over. If Bryan wins cleanly, then it’s over as well. I think the majority of fans want to see Bryan get the belt and be the WWE Champion. I don’t think it will happen yet. I think we’re due another “Dusty finish” where the match ends in a double-dq or double count-out. We don’t get a final decision and the drama continues for another month as Orton and Bryan continue their war to determine a new WWE Champion.
Double Disqualification – No Winner – Match is declared a DRAW and the title remains vacant…
*World champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam – Hardcore Rules.
This should be a good match. RVD has looked really fired up since returning to the WWE and Del Rio, despite my personal dislike of the goober, is a wrestling beast. From all reports, RVD is scheduled to be taking some time off shortly so it wouldn’t make sense to put the belt on him. And thus, I think it will happen. It’s hardcore rules and we get some tables, ladders and chairs (oh my!) and the crowd goes insane chanting “ECW” as RVD becomes the World Heavyweight Champion. Yeah, why not?
Winner and NEW World Champion: Rob Van Dam
*WWE Divas champion AJ Lee vs. Brie Bella
Brie is okay, but AJ is a crazy chick and guys dig crazy chicks. She’s not losing that title anytime soon.
Winner and STILL Divas Champion: AJ Lee
*CM Punk vs. Ryback
Probably will be the match of the night. Look for Punk to take a tremendous beating, but when the dust settles, it’s time for Ryback to “go to sleep”. Punk gets a pin and win, but Paul Heyman will still get away and Punk won’t get his revenge (yet).
Winner: CM Punk
*WWE Tag Team champions The Shield vs. Cody Rhodes & Goldust (with Dusty Rhodes): Rhodes’ Careers Are On The Line.
A distraction and “bionic elbow” by Dusty and we’ll see the Rhodes boys back in the WWE as a tag team. Also look for a tremendous beatdown by the SHIELD after the match to get their heat back. I dont think we’ll see Cody or Dustin pin either of the SHIELD guys, but a DQ or count-out win works just as well. So Dusty uses the elbow and distracts Reigns. The Shield goes after Dusty and gets counted out. Cody and Dustin win.
Winners: The Rhodes Family
*WWE Intercontinental champ Curtis Axel vs. R-Truth.
This should be a good match. Axel is the in-ring guy and Truth has the charisma. What ever happened to “Little Jimmy”? Truth dominates, but Curtis pulls out a perfect surprise and takes home the win, retaining his title.
Winner and STILL Intercontinental Champion: Curtis Axel
*Bray Wyatt vs. Kofi Kingston.
Follow the buzzards and you’ll see a beaten Kofi Kingston. ‘Nuff said!’
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Pre-Show: Damien Sandow vs. Dolph Ziggler.
Why is this match on the pre-show? Dolph and Sandow both deserve better. Sandow puts forth a great effort, but I expect to see the “Show Off” take home the win. And maybe even cash in that pretty little briefcase for a title belt later? Hmmmmm?
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
And that’s my predictions for this show. What do you think and what are yours? Inquiring minds want to know. Talk to me.
