WWE presents TLC featuring Smackdown on Sunday night on the WWE Network from the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas. And that means it’s time to break out the who-do, voodoo and pretend I know what it is, was and shall be as I do that little thing we call prediction time. I honestly almost forgot that there even was going to be a pay-per-view event this weekend, but luckily, I saw where someone on Facebook mentioned it and remembered in time. Let’s knock this sucker out and do this…
WWE World Champion AJ Styles versus Dean Ambrose in a TLC Match
This should be a brutal and stiff match and I expect the plunder to be used to the max. AJ Styles, right now is as good and hot as he’s been since coming to the WWE and should not and will not, in my opinion, lose the belt yet. The only question is how will he manage to retain and how will James Ellsworth be involved? Will Ellsworth cost Ambrose the match intentionally or will it be a freak accident where Ellsworth is trying to help Dean, but the distraction backfires? I have a theory, but it’s too early to pull the trigger as I suspect will eventually happen so I’ll save my thoughts on that for another few weeks. Look for AJ to get the pin and retain the WWE title. He’s too good to lose it yet.
Winner and STILL WWE World Champion: AJ Styles
Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch versus Alexa Bliss in a Tables Match
Becky is good, but I’m ready for someone besides the NXT three (Becky, Charlotte, Sasha) to hold gold in the WWE Womens Division. It already looks as if a glass ceiling might be there for the women and you have to be one of the NXT Originals or someone named Bella to be the top lady on one of the brands. Hopefully, that’s not the case though and Alexa will prove me wrong by taking home the Smackdown Live version of Women’s Gold.
Winner and NEW WWE Women’s Champion: Alexa Bliss
WWE Intercontinental Champion Miz versus Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match
Miz doesn’t need the belt to be over with the fans or the WWE Universe. Dolph needs something big to happen or else he’s in danger of falling to “Jack Swagger Territory” on the main roster. I’m looking for a damn good match, but in the end, Dolph manages to climb that ladder and bring home the IC title.
Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Dolph Ziggler
Smackdown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno versus Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt
I love seeing Heath Slater holding gold and a spot near the top of the roster, but I think the dream is nearly over. Bray has yet to hold any kind of belt since coming to the WWE and WWE loves to have these makeshift tag teams wearing gold. Heath, you my boy and Rhyno is a good dude, but their time as the Champs is coming to an end. The kids will be crying at Heath’s home, but the other “family”, the Wyatt Family, will be walking out with the gold on Sunday night.
Winners and NEW Smackdown Tag Team Champions: Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt
Kalisto versus Baron Corbin in a Chairs Match
If Corbin doesn’t win, his push and WWE career is pretty much over.
Winner: Baron Corbin
Nikki Bella versus Carmella in a No Disqualification Match
Carmella versus John Cena’s girlfriend and the sister-in-law of the Smackdown General Manager, Daniel Bryan, who just happens to be named Bella. Carmella should win (how you doing?), but things in WWE don’t always go as they should. Look for Nikki to take that trip to the pay window and walk out on top. Why? I don’t know, but it’s the WWE and that’s how things will go down. ‘Nuff said!
And there you go with my thoughts and predictions. It should be a good card, but like most of the WWE cards as of late, totally forgettable once the smoke clears. Doesn’t matter. I’ll be watching. Thanks for reading. Thoughts and comments are welcome. I’m Doug, I’m down and I’m gone. Have a great one and I’ll catch you on the flip side.
