Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
September 4, 2017
It’s time to do that Fact or Fiction thing. We’re talking about the world’s greatest sport, professional wrestling. The questions / statements come from my long time, close and personal friends over at 411mania.com/wrestling. And the rest of it, that’s just me. Let’s can the chit chat and get busy.
1. Jeff Hardy will defeat the Miz and win the IC Title next week on Raw.
FICTION: While it would not surprise me to see Jeff Hardy eventually win the Intercontinental Championship from Miz, I don’t think it will happen this soon. With the Miztourage at ringside, as well as Matt Hardy most likely lurking around at ringside too, I think we’ll either end up with a non-finish or else Miz cheating to win and retain. A feud between two guys like Miz and Jeff Hardy is too big to blow off in just one match or week. It has the makings of something that could go several months at least and I’m hoping that WWE decides to take it in that direction.
2. The John Cena/Roman Reigns promo segment on Monday’s Raw was the best segment on the show in a long time.
FACT: I’m not a big fan of either Cena or Roman, but it was a really good segment and was really well done. It actually helped to make me start looking forward to the upcoming Cena versus Roman match at No Mercy, something that I thought no promo segment could ever do.
3. It was a mistake to have Alexa Bliss win back the WWE Raw women’s championship so soon.
FICTION: I have no problems with Alexa winning back the title. She should never have lost it in the first place to be honest. I am more concerned with what they’re doing with Sasha. She’s won the RAW Women’s Championship four times so far and has yet to ever make it past her first title defense. That makes her look so bad and weak. What is the WWE thinking and who has “the Boss” pissed off so badly. I’m glad that Alexa is the champion and I’m looking forward to her upcoming feud with Nia Jax, but I feel badly for Sasha. She deserves better.
4. Shinsuke Nakamura should be the man to defeat Jinder Mahal for the WWE title.
FACT: Personally, I would rather see Kevin Owens find a way to sneak in there and get the WWE Championship, but I know that’s not going to happen. Shinsuke had a great showing against Jinder at the last pay-per-view and is a rising star for the WWE with a great character, image and reputation. The loss against Jinder didn’t really hurt him too bad, but he needs to get that win back to salvage his reputation and winning the WWE title from Jinder is probably the best way to do it.
5. Enzo Amore will find big success on WWE 205 Live.
FICTION: Has anyone really found any kind of great success on the 205 Live show? It’s a good program, but no one watches or cares. It’s an after-thought for the majority of the WWE Universe and the Cruiserweights are better off to just be on RAW than doing the 205 Live thing. Enzo is a great talker, but his wrestling skills are not really all that and even on 205 Live, against men like Neville, TJP, Brian Kendrick, Daivari and the rest, he’s out of his league.
6. Roman Reigns will defeat John Cena at No Mercy.
FACT: If Cena wins, it proves that everything he said about Roman is true and the Roman Reigns experience comes to a halt. If Roman wins, then Vince’s man-crush can continue and he and Cena can play it out and turn it into a rivalry for the ages that not only helps both men, but also puts butts in the seats and draws a positive reaction from the fans and WWE Universe. A loss won’t hurt Cena. A loss will destroy Roman. Thus, Roman wins because as the Authority used to say so often, it’s best for business.
And there you go. Comments, thoughts and questions are welcome. All feedback is welcome. Thank you for reading. And now it’s almost 5:00am so I’m going to bed (probably). Until the next time, take care of youself and keep reaching for the stars. Have a great one.
