Are you ready to talk some ‘rasslin? I found a few questions in my Inbox and what the hell, I don’t have anything better to do right now. Well, I am listening to the soundtrack from “RENT!”, one of my favorite movies. For some reason though, every time I watch it, I almost always end up with red eyes and a runny nose. It’s just like watching a Disco Inferno match. Let’s answer some questions and do this…
1. If you could book three matches for Wrestlemania in New Orleans, but couldn’t use main eventers or make title matches, what matches would you book?
No main-eventers or title matches so I’d pretty much be making “filler matches” or matches for the Kick-Off shows. No problem though. First off, I’d capitalize on the current feud with Alexa and Mickie James and the whole “Mickie is so old…” storyline. I know that Alexa is the current RAW Women’s Champion, but I’m pretty sure that by the time Wrestlemania comes around, Asuka will be holding that title. So I’d have Alexa break on Mickie one time too many and make some cracks about Mickie’s peers back in the Attitude Era as well and then, a challenge is made of Alexa and four current WWE Women (Alicia, Emma, and maybe Dana & Carmella from Smackdown) versus Mickie and four of her peers (Trish Stratus, Lita, Victoria and Ivory) in a ten-woman tag match. The second match I’d have would be Enzo come out and talk junk as only Enzo can do and challenge anyone from the back to come out and “shut him up” if they can. Then have Kane come out and pretty much “Pete Rose” him, a chokeslam and a tombstone piledriver. Give Kane a moment of glory and Enzo a quick little thrashing. And finally, I’d finally have the break-up of the Hype Bros. and have Zack Ryder take on Mojo Rawley in an old school “New Orleans Street Fight!”.
2. If you could pick the inductees for the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame, who would be the Class of 2018?
If Vince told me to pick the Class of 2018 right now, the following would be inducted in New Orleans. My headliners would be Eric Bischoff, Kane and The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Dennis Condrey & Stan Lane) w/ Jim Cornette and the rest of the Class of 2018 would be filled out by Ivan Koloff, Vader, Ivory, Mark Henry and Cyndi Lauper. And for the “Legacy Induction”, I’d have the members of the WCW Hall of Fame, those not already inducted, added and inducted to the HOF. This would be Ole Anderson, Bruiser, Crusher, Mr. Wrestling II, Gordon Solie, Angelo Poffo, Lou Thesz, Eddie Graham, Wahoo McDaniel and The Assassin.
3. Does Kronik belong in the WWE Hall of Fame?
That’s a tricky question. As a tag team Kronik wasn’t really together very long and while they did a few matches in WWE, they’re mainly a WCW team. As individuals, I can very easily see both men (Brian Adams, Bryan Clark) getting inducted at some point, especially Adams who had some great matches against Randy Savage and was also a member of Demolition. Clark had a good run as Adam Bomb in the WWF, but has had some hard feelings for Vince McMahon and the WWE since then and that might hurt any chance he has of ever being inducted. I think both are deserving, but I don’t really see it happening anytime soon.
4. Three Best Wrestling Books?
Easily the best wrestling themed books belong to Mick Foley, Bret Hart and Chris Jericho, but everyone already knows about them so I’ll go with some of the lesser known books that are easily among the best I’ve ever read. Ole Anderson’s “How Corporate America Destroyed Professional Wrestling”, co-written with Scott Teal, is one of the best wrestling books ever and one that I feel that every fan of old-school wrestling and the Georgia territory should read. Dynamite Kid’s book is really, really good. And Eric Bischoff’s “Controversy Creates Cash” is damn good as well. I just wish Eric would do another book now talking about everything since that book ended and his runs in TNA, his relationship with WWE as it stands today, doing the podcast, etc. It would for sure be a great read.
5. Who would you like to see write a book about their wrestling career?
The first name that comes immediately to mind is Lisa Moretti, aka “Ivory”. She started off in G.L.O.W. before coming to WWE and as far as I know, she’s the only “Diva” with that on her resume. Add to that her feuds with Moolah and Mae Young, her run with Right To Censor, the feud with Chyna, the time working as a trainer for “Tough Enough” and then finally, as an announcer for “WWE Experience”. Imagine the stories she could tell.
Next would be Bob Caudle, the long time announcer and voice of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions. Imagine the stories that Caudle could tell. He’s too nice a guy, I think, to tell the juicy stuff and the dirt, but still, working around the Crockett territory for so many years, it would be some great stuff for sure.
And finally, Jim Cornette. He’s done several books aleady about the history of different areas, but I want a Cornette book full of stories. Anyone who listens to Cornette on the podcasts or his live shows knows that the man is so outspoken and has a million stories to tell. Put them in a book Corny. We want to read it, please!
6. Will Breezango ever win the WWE Tag Team titles?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get a short run as transitional champs and maybe two or three weeks with the belts, but as long term champs, I just can’t see it happening unless they drop the comedy bit and get serious.
And I think we’ll end this here. I need questions so send me some. Thoughts, comments and any and all feedback is welcome. Thank you for reading. I’ll catch you on the flip side. Take care.
