Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction II
November 5, 2017
Are you ready for some wrestling Fact or… wait a moment. Didn’t I already do this once today? Absolutely. I did a version this morning using my own statements. But guess what? I went to my “go-to” site, 411mania.com/wrestling and the newest edition of their version of “Fact or Fiction: Wrestling Edition” was posted. So do I use their questions and save them for later or just go for it and do a second version of my own “FoF” for today? I think you already know the answer. Let’s just get to it, shall we? And away we go.
1. The booking of Kane has been absolutely horrible.
FACT: Kane is a monster. I get it. We all get it, but to have him come back and beat Finn Balor cleanly and then destroy Balor on RAW with a tombstone on the stage is just crazy. Why? And then Kane pretty much kicks the ass of Seth Rollins and destroys Daniel Bryan backstage with a chokeslam? Again, why? That is why the WWE used enhancement talents to put over Nia and Braun in the beginning, to establish the wrestlers as unbeatable, but not damaging the other top talents in the process. I’m glad Kane is back and I expect that he and Braun will have a good match at Survivor Series, but the path they’re taking to get there, it just doesn’t make sense. What the hell are they thinking?
2. You were surprised by the WWE releases of Emma, Summer Rae, and Darren.
FACT: I was surprised that Summer was even still there to be honest and I can’t really say I’m surprised about Darren getting released since he’s been out injured more than not and has failed to get over despite numerous efforts and linking him up with Bob Backlund. But I thought that WWE usually just waited for contracts to expire these days and figured that Young would be safe to be used as an Ambassador for the gay rights groups and other social groups if not as a wrestler. But Emma? She just wrestled her first singles PPV match and had a damn good match against Asuka. She was seemingly in the middle of getting a moderate push and I haven’t heard of her having any heat backstage. That one was a surprise.
3. Kurt Angle will face Triple H at WrestleMania.
FACT: Why not? It’d be a great match, Kurt would be protected, it would give HHH a high profile match to work and it makes sense given Kurt’s past and current history with Stephanie. Go for it, WWE.
4. You are happy to have Stephanie McMahon on WWE TV.
FICTION: Steph just comes out, rips the hell out of Kurt Angle and plays the role of bitch with no change of anyone getting any kind of payback on her. It’s bad booking and bad TV. I’d rather Steph just stay behind the scenes unless she really has something to contribute to the show and the story lines. Her most recent reappearance does none of that.
5. The women on Total Divas get unfairly criticized as being “over pushed & bad wrestlers.”
FACT: Those girls can pretty much look good AND wrestle. The exception was probably Eva Marie, who was given a spot on the show and pushed before she really had any kind of opportunity to show her stuff in that ring, but for the most part, the spot on the “Total Divas” show and the amount of push that each of the women wrestlers has received don’t appear to be related. Charlotte isn’t on Total Divas, but she’s been pushed to the moon and back. Lana is on the show, but she’s barely used, acts more as a manager than a wrestler and does the J.O.B. when she does wrestle.
6. Who should WWE bring up from NXT to replace Emma on the main roster?
With the addition of Asuka to the main roster, there really isn’t a need for any new talents from NXT or anywhere else on the Main Roster. It’s kind of loaded and crowded right now as it is and more bodies would just create less time for the women there now. But if they have to bring a new face to the current roster, why not the former NXT and Divas Champion currently training at the Performance Center, Paige. And if that’s not enough, I think they should reach out to former Diva Lisa Marie Varon, aka “Victoria” for one more short run. The NXT women are good and getting better every day, but they’ll get their time on the main roster eventually. Now is not the time.
And that’s all for now. Again, thanks for reading. Comments and thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care.
