WWE Survivor Series
Thoughts & Predictions
November 18, 2017
It is late Friday night as I write this and we are just hours away from the one time a year, or say they say, that WWE RAW and WWE Smackdown Live go head to head, WWE Survivor Series. It’s a totally stacked card, loaded from top to finish with eight matches announced so far. I suspect that at least one more match will be added to the Kick-Off Show since they have two hours to fill before getting to the main show and Survivor Series, but they have yet to announce anything else as of right now. But for the matches announced, it’s time to take a look-see and try to figure out who wins, who loses and which brand of WWE will reign supreme. Yes, my friends, it’s prediction time. Let’s get busy and do this, shall we?
Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto for the Cruiserweight Championship
So far, this match is the only one that has been announced for the Kick-Off Show on Sunday afternoon. Enzo and Kalisto have already switched the Cruiserweight Championship between them one time and the question here is, will it happen again? Enzo annoys the crap out of me to be honest, but I think that’s what he is supposed to be doing. Kalisto does absolutely nothing for me, period. I’d much rather see Gulak or Gallagher or “The Brian Kendrick” in action against Enzo, but the WWE wants to play up to the Latino audience and I can see why it makes good business sense. I just don’t care for Kalisto and wish he would get deported or something of that nature. Hasn’t Trump built that damn wall yet? Hell, Kalisto would probably just leapfrog over it anyhow so what’s the point. Look for Enzo to retain the title. I think Mr. Mouth still has a long way to go on 205 Live before he peaks.
Winner and STILL WWE Cruiserweight Champion: Enzo Amore
WWE Raw Tag Team Champions The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro) vs Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions, Jimmy & Jey, the Usos.
This should be arguably the match of the night, at least so far as stiffness and working tight goes. The Usos have really dominated the tag team scene on Smackdown and the team of Sheamus and Cesaro are so damn unique and strong as a team, this match could go either way and it could not be called an upset. Both teams are that good. The Usos suffered an injury towards the end of Smackdown this past Tuesday so I think that gives the edge to the new Raw Tag Team Champions. I’m saying that this one, after a helluva tight match, goes for the Celtic Warrior and the Swiss Superman.
Winners: Sheamus & Cesaro
Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss
Another good match, albeit one we’ve seen before, but not often and both women have really grown and gotten so much better since those days on RAW. As much as I love Natayla, I think this match will be even better with Charlotte as the Smackdown Women’s Champion and taking on Alexa than even Nattie versus Alexa would have been. Charlotte has the momentum from her big win this past Tuesday night and Alexa has a ready made excuse that she was prepared for Natayla and not Charlotte. Look for the “Queen” to make the “Goddess” tap out and take that big trip to the pay window.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
The Shield vs. The New Day
I am not a big fan of either the Shield or the New Day, but this match has caught my attention and I’m actually anxious to see how it all plays out. What I would love to see happen is to have Roman Reigns go full heel and turn on his “brothers”, allowing the New Day to get the big victory and to let Roman versus Dean and Roman versus Seth be our big matches for the next six months. That would be awesome. But what I think will happen is that we’ll have a good match with both teams getting their spots in, but in the end, it’s a big trifecta-powerbomb by the Shield and they lay out each member of the New Day to take home the big win.
Winners: The Shield
Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. United States Champion Baron Corbin
This is the match I’m looking forward to most of all aside from the main event elimiation match. A rare “heel versus heel” match and if I’m correct, the first one on one match with Corbin and Miz. Miz has the experience edge and of course, the addition of Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, the Miztourage, to work in his favor. Corbin has a huge size and strength advantage and everything to win here. No one expects to see Corbin win here and a win over Miz would do wonders for his credibility. Miz can win or lose and he’s so over and so good on the mic that it won’t matter one bit. I would prefer to see Miz take that victory home to RAW, but I don’t think that’ll be the case here. I’m thinking that Corbin will surprise us all and walk out with the big victory.
Winner: Baron Corbin
Team RAW: Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor and Triple H vs. Team Smackdown: Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode and John Cena
It’ll be interesting to see how they make all of these personalities work together. Can HHH and Kurt Angle work together as a team or will we see a rift grow leading to a potential match between the two men at Wrestlemania? Will Braun dominate or be elminated in a wonky fashion? What side will John Cena, the “free agent” take when the smoke has cleared. Will Joe, Balor, Shinsuke and Roode all be kept strong or sacrificed for the sake of the part-timers and non-wrestler? Will Super-Shane make an appearance and withstand everyone and everything? Will Jason Jordan show up and express his disgust with the way he was taken off Team Raw? Will Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn show up and stand up for their “brand” or will they cost their “brand” everything? So many questions and this match can go so many different directions. Look for Randy Orton to hit at least one RKO from out of nowhere and for at least one big Cena comeback. And I think that mainly due to the problems with HHH and his wife Steph and their GM, Kurt Angle, we’ll see the blue team manage to steal out the win in the end.
Winners: Team Smackdown Live
Team RAW: Alicia Fox, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Asuka vs. Team Smackdown Live: Becky Lynch, Carmella, Tamina, Naomi and TBA
The questions for this match are how will they keep Asuka strong? Probably a DQ or count-out elimination. And who will be the “TBA” for the Smackdown team now that Charlotte has moved on to face Alexa after defeating Natayla this past Tuesday night. The logical choice would be Natayla, but I’ve also heard Paige mentioned as a surprise member of the Smackdown Women’s roster. I’ve also heard Nikki Bella mentioned too, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I am looking forward to seeing Nia Jax and Tamina face off. Since I picked the Smackdown team to win the men’s match, I’ll go for RAW to win this one. This one goes to Team Red.
Winners: Team RAW
WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion AJ Styles.
And in what should be the main event of the night, the WWE’s two top singles champions face off. I’m kind of bummed that we won’t be seeing Brock face off with the former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, but this match is better box office and I can see why the WWE management would prefer having AJ against Brock instead. I think AJ will be a bumping machine for the night and take several trips to Suplex City. I would not be surprised to see Jinder Mahal get involved in some way to hopefully injure Styles so he can have an advantage when he gets his rematch, probably on Smackdown Tuesday night. I’m expecting that we’ll see AJ and Brock put on the match of a lifetime come Sunday night. As for who wins, it’ll be the fans. And Brock. Always vote on Brock.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
And there you go, my predictions for the Survivor Series on Sunday night, live from Houston, Texas. This should be one hell of a solid and powerful show. I’m excited. So what do you think? Am I right with my predictions? Am I crazy? Let me know what you think and who you think will take home the wins come Sunday. That’s it for now. Time to go watch The Punisher over on Netflix. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you on the flip side. Take care and thanks for reading.
