NXT Takeover: War Games
Thoughts & Predictions
November 17, 2017
Coming up on Saturday night, live from Houston Texas, the WWE and NXT presents: NXT Takeover: War Games. It’s the return of the greatest match of WCW history, the War Games and several other great matches as well as the kick-off to an epic 4-event spectacular begins. Of course, I have a few thoughts on each of the matches announced for the night. I’ll have my predictions for Survivor Series up probably late Friday night, but this is NXT and the War Games. Let’s get all psychic and shit. Let’s do this…
WarGames: SAnitY vs. The Undisputed Era vs. The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong
Somewhere up in wrestling heaven, Dusty Rhodes is looking down, taking a break from his getting funky like a monkey and raising hell with Murdoch and Mulligan and giving that million dollar smile, if you will. One of his greatest creations, the War Games is back in business. True, the WWE has made some modifications to the match, but that’s what they do. At least they finally brought it back. As for this match, I expect a lot of crazy brawling and plunder being involved. The AOP and Strong are not a regular team and I don’t really think we’ll be seeing them with the upset win for this event. Actually, I keep hearing that the AOP is due to be moved up to the main roster sometime soon so this may be their swan song with NXT. Eric Young’s SAnity group is so freakin’ over already, they don’t need to win here. I think that the victory and the group, at the end of the night, who takes that trip to the pay window, will be The Undisputed Era. They need it most and have earned the honor.
Winners: The Undisputed Era
NXT Championship: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
The addition of Zelina Vega with Almas has done wonders for his character and role and really elevated what was already a good and fun character into a main-event level performer. Almas is really damn good and one of the most entertaining men in NXT right now. As for the champion, Drew McIntyre, he is on fire and gets better and better each and every week. It’s hard to believe this is the same man who used to hang out with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater as part of the 3MB just a few years ago. This might possibly be the match of the night and I expect plenty of close calls and two-counts. I also expect Zelina to get involved quite often in her efforts to help Almas win the NXT gold. But alas, it won’t work and at the end of the night, look for the champion to remain champion. Drew makes the great comeback and scores a big win to retain the NXT title.
Winner and STILL NXT Champion: Drew McIntyre
NXT Women’s Championship: Kari Sane vs. Peyton Royce vs. Ember Moon vs. Nikki Cross
Four amazing and very talented women who can really go and look great in that ring. There can be arguments made for why all four women deserve this title and should be the next Women’s Champion and all points would be valid. My own personal opinion is that in the end, it’ll have to come down to either Ember Moon or Nikki Cross. Nothing against Peyton or Kari, but I don’t think it’s their time… yet. Ember has come so close so many times and gave the former champion, Asuka, all she could handle before Asuka gave up the title and moved to the main roster. Nikki has that great character and is so unique and has the backing of her associates in SAnity. Its a tough call, but I think I’m going with Ember Moon here. No real reason except that I just think it’s her time to shine.
Winner and NEW NXT Women’s Champion: Ember Moon
Aleister Black vs. Velveteen Dream
Two really good and unique characters that have had a really good feud going as of late. This should be an epic and memorable match for all of the right reasons. I think that we’ll see Dream look great and be really strong for probably 80% of the match, but in the end, I think that things will go as they should and Aleister will manage to snatch that win from the jaws of defeat and get that arm raised in victory. Both men end up looking great and Aleister takes home the win.
Winner: Aleister Black
Kassius Ohno vs. Lars Sullivan
This should be another fun match to watch. Ohno is a great perfomer and can make almost anyone with a pulse look good. Sullivan is a throwback to the classic monster and doesn’t need much help to impress and terrify in that ring. Ohno will take bumps and make Sullivan look like the star he is beginning to be. Sullivan will learn and impress and dominate. And in the end, Sullivan gets the victory.
Winner: Lars Sullivan
And there you go. Am I correcr with my predictions? Am I crazy? Let me know what you think and who you think will be victorious come Saturday night. It should be one hell of a show. And now, I’m down and gone. It’s getting late and I have a few more things to do before I go to bed. Catch you later. Thanks for reading.
