Music Fact Or Fiction – January 7, 2018

Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
January 7, 2018

Yo yo yo, it’s time to get all musical and funky like a monkey. No, I am not going to sing. Not yet anyhow. I’ll save that for “Tossing Salt – The Musical”, coming one day to a nightmare near you. Instead, it’s the weekend and that means it’s time to do that “Fact or Fiction” thing, the music edition. As per the usual, the questions come from my friends over at And the opinions that follow? Those are from me. Let’s get busy and do this…

You’re excited by news of a new Justin Timberlake album in February.

FACT: Anything that Justin Timberlake gets involved with usually tends to be either really good or simply amazing. He’s that kind of guy. And ever since he went solo from the guys at N’Sync, he gets better and better with each new album and presentation. He’s the Michael Jackson of the 21rst century in my opinion so a new album for 2018 is definitely something to look forward to. It should be good.

Lorde was going to get backlash no matter what decision she made about her Israel concert.

FACT: Stuff like this is why entertainers should stick to entertaining and avoid getting involved in politics and other hot-button issues. No matter what side of the argument she decided to speak on, someone was bound to get mad. She should just chalk this one up to ignorance of youth, move on with her life and avoid the political stuff. Just sing damn it!

The video for Jay-Z’s ‘Family Feud’ was one of his better ones.

FACT: It was almost five minutes into the video before the music started and it was more like a mini-movie than a music video. But I found myself getting caught up in the story and it was like, “where is this going?”. I’m not a fan of Jay-Z or Beyonce for that matter, but I liked this one. Good stuff and I’ll probably watch it a few more times before it’s all said and done.

You enjoyed A Perfect Circle’s new song ‘Disillusioned.’

FACT: I went to YouTube and listened and I like it. Good lyrics and a more mellow tone that I was expecting, but I’m enjoying it. I’m a big lyric guy anyhow and this is really connecting with me. “You were never an island!”. Lots of shots at social media and I’m loving it. I’m adding “A Perfect Circle” to my playlists.

Kid Rock will likely settle in the lawsuit over ‘The Greatest Show on Earth.’

FACT: Kid Rock is a smart man usually and anyone with half a brain knows that the tag-line, “The Greatest Show On Earth” belongs to the Ringling Brothers Circus and has been theirs forever. Kid may want to use it for his tour, but it was their catch-phrase before it was his and he’ll have to work things out with them to make things right. He’ll settle and life will go on.

The $1.6 billion lawsuit against Spotify could be a bad sign for the service.

FACT: Spotify has already settled one lawsuit for $43 million bucks and now have this one, for a potential 1.6 billion dollars pending against them. No matter how this turns out, it’s not good for Spotify and looks bad, really bad.

And that’s all for today. Comments, thoughts and any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading. I really do appreciate it. Until the next time, take care and stay warm. It’s 4 degrees outside right now. Damn, it’s cold. Love ya – mean it.
