Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
February 26, 2018
It’s Monday morning and this is way too early to be awake and talking about the world’s greatest sport, even for me. But alas, this should have been completed yesterday and by waiting until today, a couple of the statements are already obsolete. I could pull a “Broken Matt” and DELETE these statements of irrelevance, but that wouldn’t be me. We’ll just swing it and play it by ear. The info of which I comment comes from my friends over at 411mania.com/wrestling. I’m doing the rest. Let’s get this up and done, shall we? And away we go…
1. Alexa Bliss will win the women’s elimination chamber match.
FACT: The Elimination Chamber was last night and yes, in a great match and overcoming all the odds, Alexa Bliss did retain her WWE Raw Women’s Championship, as I predicted earlier this week. Alexa won and is going to Wrestlemania to defend her championship. Good for her.
2. Nia Jax will defeat Asuka at the elimination chamber PPV.
FICTION: Again, the Chamber pay-per-view was last night so it’s all history now. Asuka won the match and it was a helluva good one to boot. Now as for what the future holds for Nia, we’ll find out tonight on RAW.
3. You were shocked to hear that Jeff Jarrett is going into the WWE Hall of fame.
FACT: I always knew it was a possibility, especially when Jeff took advantage of the WWE sponsored rehab program earlier this year. It was obvious that there was some healing taking place and fences being mended, but to actually have Jarrett going into the WWE Hall of Fame this year? That did catch me off guard and was a total surprise. I’m glad to see it because I’ve always kind of liked Jarrett and he is definitely a true and worthy addition, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this soon. I guess it’s true that anything can happen in the WWE and hell has been freezing over a lot lately. What’s next? Ole Anderson? One can only hope.
4. WWE will introduce women’s tag team titles by the end of 2018.
FICTION: I can see it happening eventually and there are definitely enough talented women on the main roster to make it work. Well, there would be if the women’s rosters were consolidated and they had their own show, maybe replacing the Cruiserweights (hint hint). It’s an idea that’s time has come and it’s not if it will happen, but only when. Not this year though. Not yet. But it will happen.
5. Roman Reigns will win the men’s elimination chamber match.
FACT: The Chamber match was last night and it was one helluva good show from start to finish. Braun looked great and everyone looked great. And yes, Roman won the match as everyone expected. I had predicted Braun. I was wrong. But the match was awesome and the Road to Wrestlemania continues tonight to Roman versus Brock.
6. You would be behind the idea of WWE six-man tag team titles if they were part of Raw, Smackdown, and 205 Live.
FICTION: While I wouldn’t object to it and there are definitely enough factions and groups to make it work, especially if it was a title that was part of and represented on ALL the brands, more titles are never the answer. Six-man tags are fun, but six-man titles have never really seemed to work well for extended periods of time. They just seem like filler and meaningless. Again, I wouldn’t fuss too much if they did form a Trios Tag Titles, especially if it involved everyone on the roster and all the brands, but for now, less is more and the WWE doesn’t need it.
And there you go. I’m through now and have to go get ready for a fun filled trip to Aberdeen, NC. I love these Monday mornings. Yay! Thanks for reading. Questions, comments and thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, my friends, take it light. Have a great one and remember to support your local Indy wrestling. Take care.
