Music Fact or Fiction – February 26, 2018

Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
February 26, 2018

It is already Monday morning and the past week is just a big blur. I hate it when I’m sick and no, I’m not talking about my sense of humor. I’ve been a hacking, delirious lost in another world mess for the past week plus. That has really sucked. Time to play catch up again and try to get something done here for the site. How about that “Fact or Fiction” thing, the music edition? The questions come from my pals over at And I’m providing the rest of it. Let’s make this quick and get ‘er done.

The outrage over Fergie’s National Anthem performance is overblown.

FACT: She screwed up and it sucked. That simple really. It happens and there are plenty of things that are worth getting more upset over than this. People just like to bitch and complain and get all hot over the slightest things, but Fergie didn’t intentionally go out there to insult the Anthem or America, unlike some kneeling ass bastards in the NFL. She tried to be creative and different and it didn’t work. Ooops! She apologized so let’s move on.

Drake’s video for ‘God’s Plan’ was one of his best.

FACT: It was okay and for Drake, who I honestly could care less about, it’s a good effort and shows him doing some good and giving back to his community. More power to him. Whatever…

You want to attend the Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour.

FICTION: I like the Pumpkins and some of their stuff and if the opportunity came up to go see their show and this reunion tour, I’d probably do it, but I’m going out of way for it or them. Alice, I’d like to see again. If the Stones or Aerosmith do a tour, I’d like to see that. Hell, even Hall & Oates or Heart or Billy Joel, I’d go see it. But the Smashing Pumpkins. I’ll just wait for the video and maybe a Netflix documentary.

You enjoyed Frank Ocean’s cover of ‘Moon River.’

FACT: I went and looked it up on YouTube and I liked it. A great classic covered by a damn good singer. He’s not Sinatra or Sammy, but Ocean has a hell of a voice and can sing with the best of them. Good stuff.

Muse’s new track ‘Thought Contagion’ was great.

FICTION: I went and listened and it’s good enough. A decent song and I enjoyed it well enough, but to earn the term “great”. I just didn’t feel that much for the song so “decent” and “good enough” is the best I can do.

Baby in Vain’s cover of Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” pales in comparison to the original.

FACT: Some songs and artists are made to be covered. Metallica and especially this song, “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, is not one of them. Give Baby In Vain some credit for trying, but alas, it was all in vain and a wasted effort. Not good at all.

And there you go. I’m through here. Thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated. Let me know what you think. Until the next time, I love ya Peeps. Take it easy.
