Politics Fact or Fiction

Every week, we do a “Fact or Fiction” column here at the site for the world’s greatest sport, professional wrestling. And we also do a “Fact or Fiction” piece for the world that is music and entertainment. Well, now it’s time to ruffle a few feathers, piss a few people off and just go crazy. After all, why the hell not. So you know how this works, right? I have these statements and I’ll tell you if I agree or not, by saying either “Fact” or “Fiction” and then explain why because that’s what we do around here. And now, are you ready? Let’s do this.

Shootings like the one in Florida can be avoided by passing more gun control laws.

FICTION: If a criminal or nut case wants to get a gun to use against people, they’re going to get it and all the laws in the world are not going to help. Background checks are fine if they’re enforced, but there are already a ton of laws on the books and the only people they actually affect are the law-abiding gun owners who follow the laws and aren’t the problems to begin with. Criminals are criminals because they don’t obey laws anyhow so what makes people think that actually creating new laws will have any affect. Simple. It won’t. Enforce the laws we already have and promote education instead. Teach responsibility and let people know that actions have consequences and that they matter and all lives matter. There is no simple solution for the problems of gun violence, but don’t blame the gun. Blame society and the lack of values and lack of morality because that’s where the problems truly are.

There was collusion between the Trump Presidential campaign and the Russian government?

FICTION: It’s been well over a year and still nothing. Let it go already and let Trump be President without having to worry about fake charges and this crazy B.S. from the Democrats who still can’t believe that Hillary, who was a proven liar, a bad candidate and even worse person, didn’t win the election in 2016. The election is over. And by the way, even if there was collusion, it isn’t illegal. It may be distasteful and unwelcome, but so what? All the advice and fake propaganda from Russia isn’t going to change the way the election turned out and how people vote. It just means more political hype for the voter to wade through before making a decision, but in the end, it didn’t force a single voter to vote differently than who they felt was the best (or lesser evil) of the Presidential candiates. This is all just a waste of time, money and our lives.

The View should be taken off the air.

FICTION: It’s a total waste of our times and the “ladies” (and I use that term loosely) are ignorant, loud and obnoxious and if it was my own personal call, I’d yank them so fast, they’d all have whiplash in their empty little heads. But the show makes money for ABC and stays relevant by constantly making the news. And any publicity, be it good or bad, matters. I’d love to see the show go back to when they had a sense of responsibility and a little common sense, but Barbara Walters is gone and now Whoopi is the executive producer so those days are long gone and will never return. Now it’s cackling hatred and bitterness towards Trump and anyone with a conservative mindset and just a bunch of stupid idiots that make the Jerry Springer show look like high-class programming in comparison. But the First Amendment and the fact that people still watch this crap though means it’ll be around for a while longer and stay on the air. That’s their right and so be it. I don’t have to watch though and I won’t.

Winners of Power-Ball and lottery jackpots should be allowed to remain anonymous.

FICTION: I feel for these people. I really do. But part of the whole deal is the winners get large sums of money and the lottery people use the person’s name and likeness to help promote and advertise their product. If you want to stay anonymous, don’t play the games and if you do play the games and win the big money, just accept the consequences and responsibility that comes with it. It’s a trade off and while I know that people today feel entitled, that they want the money, but don’t want any of the other things that come with it, but that’s not how things work. Just take the check and smile while posing for the pictures. Or don’t take the money and shut the hell up. They can give the money to me and I’ll help them advertise. My mama didn’t raise no fool. Just show me the money.

Journalism is dead.

FACT: While there might still be one or two so-called journalist out there who still report “just the facts”, they are few and far between and outcasts in a world full of bias, spin and subjective reporting. Now, it’s only report what supports whatever side of the argument that you are in favor of or what creates the most sensational story. And if it’s not entirely true or information has to be left out or even made up, so be it. Just feed the sheep what they want to hear and truth be damned. That is the Ameican media these days and what this nation has become.

English should be used as the “official language” of the United States.

FACT: While I can understand some tolerance towards new arrivals in this country who don’t speak English, it should be on them to learn English and learn to communicate with the majority of this country and not on the rest of the country to cater to them. The vast majority of the people in this nation speak and write and read English. The vast majority of business and communication is in English. English should be the “official nation” of our country and if a person wants to live, reside, do business in or be a part of this country, then they should learn to speak, read and write in English.

States have the right to ignore federal laws and declare themselves as sanctuary cities and sanctuary states.

FICTION: Federal law takes precedence over state laws. What about that isn’t clear. If states want to ignore federal laws, they are in violation of the law and should have ALL federal aid and funding cut off and the state or city leaders who attempt to encourage violation of the law and put the rights of illegals over the rights of citizens should be arrested, charged and prosecuted. Federal law takes precedence over state and local law. And dat’ is all de’ people need to know. ‘Nuff said.

And there you go. This isn’t my first political Fact or Fiction piece, but it’s the first in a while. Thank you for reading.
