Greetings and welcome to the political part of my site, the column that I call “Opposing Views”. I haven’t done one of these in a while and to be honest, I’m not sure if I should do one now. After all, I don’t want to offend anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings and make them go retreat to their “safe space” or threaten to boycott me. Ah, what the hell do I care? For the most part, I don’t get into the politics here at the site, preferring to talk about the world’s greatest sport, professional wrestling or music or what I had for lunch on Saturday afternoon. That’s what, based on the stats for the site, people prefer to read about and enjoy more. I have a couple of regular readers who read the political stuff just so they can tell me how bat-shit crazy I am, but I wasn’t the one who said that Hillary Clinton was honest, right? Hell, I’m a gay guy who was a fan of Sen. Jesse Helms on 90% of his stuff so what the hell do I know anyhow, right? I don’t play political correctness and I think that no one is entitled to special rights because of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or any other reason. We are all equal, period. If you feel that anyone owes you anything, get the hell over it because no one owes you anything. If you want something, you work and earn it or else you do without. And don’t whine or cry about being “held back” or “that person didn’t give me a chance” or “my feelings are hurt”. Life sucks sometimes and people get held back, are not given chances and get their feelings hurt. And the successful ones use it as motivation to get back up and forge ahead anyhow. The rest protest, cry, complain and make excuses. And not a damn thing changes. Nothing gets better and they have no one to really blame but themselves. Of course, they’ll blame everyone else, but the real reasons for failure and misery? Look in the mirror.

Okay, that was almost a rant so Iet’s move on and let me explain what is going on here. I go to a politicially themed site sometimes called, “Opposing Views” and they tend to lean a bit towards the left. But they do have good questions that they post for their readers and there tends to be some great political discussion, mixed in with some name calling and blissful ignorance, from both sides. I like their questions and every so often, I’ll pick the first ten or so that I come to and do the piece that you’re reading here. Check them out if you get the chance. Their Facebook page is at: http://www.facebook.com/opposingviews/. And now, enough rambling from this Facebook classified “moderate”. Let’s get to the questions…

Do you think affirmative action policies are discriminatory against white people?

I think that any policy that favors one person over another for any reason, be it race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age or whatever, is discriminatory. If a position is available, be it as a student in a college, a job position or anything else, it should go to the person who’s earned it by being the most qualified and best person for that spot. No other reason matters nor should it… period.

Do you think people should mind their own business about what foods people buy with food stamps?

This answer will probably surprise a lot of people, but yes, I do think that in this case, people should mind their own business. If a person qualifies to get food stamps, why should we care what kind of food they choose to eat? We all have different tastes in food and what we will and will not eat and just because a person likes this food over that food doesn’t give me the right to judge or complain. I do believe that if a person is using their food stamps or selling their food stamps to buy liquor or cigarettes or lottery tickets or anything else besides food, they should be removed from the roster and no longer allowed to get EBT or SNAP. That’s not what they’re intended for. But so long as they’re being used for food, regardless of what kind of food, so be it. Leave the people alone.

Recent polling finds that the majority of Americans wish Obama was still president. Do you?

I would love to know who’s doing the polling and where exactly they’re polling at because the majority of people I speak to daily seem to prefer that Obama is out of office. They’re not exactly thrilled with Trump either, but everyone seems to realize that Obama and his polices were a failed Presidency and did the country more harm than good. This polling they speak of must have been conducted in college campuses and California and these folks snort condoms and eat Tide Pods. What the hell do they know anyhow?

Do you think every last member of Congress should have to pass a drug test in order to collect their salary?

If you’re in elected office, be it President, Senator, Congressman, State Representative, Mayor, City Council Member, Sheriff or whatever the office may be, you should be free of illegal drugs and able to pass a drug test. If you can’t, you don’t need to be in that office and should be removed. And yes, that includes pot.

Paul Ryan says Trump isn’t perfect, but he’s still a way better president than Obama was. Do you agree or disagree with that?

Absolutely. Ryan is correct when he says that Trump isn’t perfect. He’s rude, abrasive, spiteful, petty and generally obnoxious as hell. Part of that is the New York thing and part of it is just that he’s an overbearing prick. But he gets things accomplished and seems to have the best interests of our nation at heart. I think he truly wants to do the right things and rebuild our country to the greatness it once represented and will again. Would I want Trump as my neighbor? Not at all. But is he a far better President than Obama? I think so.

Tennessee will soon vote on a bill to ban sanctuary cities statewide. Should they pass it?

Absolutely. Sanctuary cities are illegal and are designed to protect people who are here illegally and breaking the law. They ignore federal laws and provide a safe haven for people who are here illegally and quite bluntly, have no rights to even be in our country. If people want to come to the United States, there is a legal means to do so by jumping through the hoops, following the proper procedures and doing it the right way. Illegal immigrants are called “illegal” for a reason… because they’re not here legally. They should be arrested and deported or else have arrangements made to get them on the right track to becoming legal residents. City governments should not be protecting them or providing haven, but instead should be cooperating with federal officials and federal laws.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is actively investigating Trump’s political and financial dealings with Russia. YES or NO: Will Trump remain president all four years?

They’ve been investigating for over a year and so far, on this whole collusion thing, there has been nothing at all to incriminate the President. There has, however, been prove links between the DNC, Hillary Clinton and the Russians. Where is the investigation on that? Trump We’re already a year and a half into the Trump administration and he’s definitely make it through the rest of his term. No worries about that.

Agree or disagree? The Confederate flag is about heritage, not racism?

The Confederate Flag most commonly seen is the “Stars and Bars” battle flag of Virginia and has been a big part of life here in the south for as long as I’ve been alive, over 1/2 a century. It was a part of our youth and everyone, whether black or white or native, embraced it as a part of our heritage and “rebel pride”. The Rebel flag was never, ever about racism until some idiots and political jack-clowns decided that it was a few years ago and the sheep decided to respond with outrage and hatred. They didn’t know they were mad until they were told to be mad and it’s spiraled from there. I have several confederate flags in my closet. I have one on my key chain. I have pillow cases on my bed that have the Confederate flag on them. And no one who knows me can honestly call me racist. I dislike everyone equally. If you’re cool, you’re cool and if you’re a pinhead or dip-shit, you’re a pinhead and dip-shit. It has nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with actions and behavior, as it should be. The Confederate Flag is just being used as a scapegoat by people who are looking for reasons to justify their own racism and petty bigot behavior. Heritage? Yes. Racism? Only in the small minds of some deluded sheeples.

Bernie Sanders says Barack Obama will be remembered as one of the most intelligent presidents in US history. Were you proud to have Obama in the White House?

Look at the source and this statement is automatically discredited. Bernie is a guy who’s never held a real job until he got into politics and wants to have the Government pay for everything and anything with no plans or ideas as how this would be paid for. He’s a freakin’ idiot. As for Obama, he is a smart guy. I won’t deny that. He’s dishonest, egotistical, arrogant and had bad policies that hurt our nation far more than helped it, but he’s well-spoken and intelligent. No doubts about that. Was I proud to have Obama in the White House. Given the options against him in the elections, John McCain and Mitt Romney, each election was a choice of bad decisions, as was the Hillary / Trump election of 2016. I think Obama was the better choice in 2008 against McCain. But by 2012, after he had his chance to do his thing and we realized what a bad leader he was, a change should have been made. So was I proud? I was happy to see history made, but it was the wrong person who made it and our nation paid for it as a result.

America has been rocked with one scandal after another since Trump took office. Do you think he deserves to be impeached?

98% of the so-called scandals are just media produced uproars over the smallest and most petty of things. They’re so determined to hurt Trump and bring down his Administration that the media, the Democrats and the pro-Hillary crowd will jump on anything and everything and blow it up, throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. So far, nothing has. Trump is different than any President we’ve ever had before. He’s rude and obnoxious and generally just a prick, but he’s getting things accomplished and things are getting better. The only true scandals are how biased the media has become, totally forgetting about basic journalism and sticking to the facts instead of putting the twisted spin in the direction they prefer and how determined that Schumer, Pelosi and the Democratic leadership are to bring the President down. If it destroys or hurts the American public, so be it. They don’t care. A lot of people need to be impeached and removed from office, but Trump isn’t the one they need to be going after. Look at the other side of the aisle for a change.

And there you go. That’s all for me. I have to go get ready for work now. Comments, thoughts and all feedback is welcome. Tell me what you think and don’t hold back. I want to know. Until the next time, have a great one and stay safe. Love ya – mean it.
