Tossing Salt Presents:
Music Fact or Fiction
April 10, 2018
I usually do this on Saturday. Today is Tuesday. What the hell happened? Let’s do the Tossing Salt Fact or Fiction thing, the music edition. The questions come from my friends over at 411mania.com/music. I’m giving the opinions that follow. Let’s do this…
Eminem’s video for “Framed” was solid.
FACT: It’s freakin’ Eminem. Of course it’s going to be “solid”. Generally, even the less than great Eminem videos are decent and this is better than that. While it’s not quite of a “Rap God” quality, Eminem has another hit on his hands and another video well done.
Nicki Minaj is the best female in hip-hop history.
FICTION: Not even close. I’d put Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot all above her. Hell, Nicki can’t even think about holding the panties of Blondie for that matter. The best female is hip-hop history? What about the Real Roxanne? Minaj doesn’t even rate Top Ten in my book.
Chris Brown’s photos with his hands around a woman’s throat are in poor taste.
FACT: Brown claims that the pictures are horseplay and just a joke, but when a person has a criminal record like Brown and a past that includes beating up a woman, why would he even indulge in that kind of playing around and horseplay? The guy is a total idiot and poor taste doesn’t even begin to describe it. Dumb-ass!
You’re interested in the upcoming HBO documentary on Elvis Presley.
FACT: HBO has a good track record with their documentaries and Elvis is a fascinating subject so when it comes out, I’ll probably take a look and see what’s shaking.
Cardi B and Migos’ track “Drip” wasn’t very good.
FACT: I went and listened. It sucked! It sucked badly. I’ll admit I’m not a fan of either, but I generally can be unbiased in regards to music and what is or isn’t decent regardless of my personal tastes. This track blew major chunks and my ears and brain screamed in agony at the torture I put them through in listening to this garbage. I’d rather hear cats screwing outside my bedroom morning at 3am. Very, very bad!
You enjoyed Lady Gaga’s cover of Elton John’s “Your Song.”
FACT: It’s okay. It’s a classic good song and Gaga has a damn good voice and it turned out pretty decent. She’s no Elton John, but then again, who is. The song was a nice cover and will make a good song for her concerts as filler to pop the crowds. I won’t be out trying to find the single, but if it comes on the radio or YouTube, I won’t immediately turn it off either.
And that’s all for now. Thoughts, comments and any questions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for reading. Until the next time, take care and have a great one.
