Are you ready to talk some wrestling? This edition of the “Fact or Fiction”, courtesy of my friends at 411mania.com/wrestling is very BackLash heavy and I almost didn’t do it because everything covered here, I’ve mainly already covered in my BackLash prediction column a few days ago. But then I thought about it and decided that, what the hell, I’ll do it anyhow. One can never have enough wrestling content on their site and who knows? Maybe some of my views have changed over the past couple of days as to who should win and why. I guess we’ll find out. Anyhow, this is “Wrestling Fact or Fiction”. Let’s get busy and do this…

1. Shinsuke Nakamura will win the WWE Title at WWE Backlash.

FACT: It all comes down to the way that Shinsuke has been presented and booked thus far on Smackdown. If he loses cleanly to AJ, then what was the point? What’s next? I can’t really see the WWE and Vince McMahon getting behind the “Artist” as a long term champion, but I can easily see a short run as the WWE Champion, at least until SummerSlam and that’s exactly what I’m thinking will happen here. Look for a great match and at the end, the “King of Strong Style” adds the words WWE Champion to his resume as well.

2. Neither women’s titles will change hands at WWE Backlash.

FICTION: I would love to see Carmella retain her Smackdown Championship and get a real chance to strut her stuff for a while, but she’s against the force that is “Flair” and the WWE doesn’t like Charlotte too far away from holding gold so I’m thinking that reign will come to an abrupt halt come tonight. As for the RAW title, I much prefer Alexa as the Champion, but Nia hasn’t had the belt long and the WWE is doing this big anti-bully story line so it wouldn’t make sense for the “bully” (Alexa) to win, would it? So Nia will keep her title for a little longer until the novelty wears off.

3. Roman Reigns will defeat Samoa Joe at WWE Backlash.

FACT: Roman, after losing several matches to Brock Lesnar, needs a win and needs it badly. But Joe is ready for that big push to the moon and can’t really afford to take a clean loss right now. So I’ll go with how I called it in my prediction column. Roman will win, but it will be by a count-out or a disqualification. Thus neither man is hurt by the “loss”, the match is essentially a no-contest and the rematch can be put off until SummerSlam or to when a title is at stake and it actually means something, unlike this match.

4. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens will defeat Lashley & Strowman at WWE Backlash.

FICTION: Braun won the tag titles by himself at Wrestlemania. Lashley is the new monster being built up to fight Brock. Neither of these men are losing the match and taking a pin. Owens and Sami, it’s been nice knowing you, but tonight, you’re doing a SQUASH J.O.B. ‘Nuff said!

5Big Cass will defeat Daniel Bryan at WWE Backlash.

FACT: Bryan doesn’t need to win or lose. He’s teflon right now. Cass just came back after an injury and this is his first big match. He can’t afford to lose yet. So Bryan does great, Cass looks like a bad-ass, there’s a distraction by the Miz, and one big boot later, Cass covers Bryan and takes home the win. Sounds right (and pretty awesome) to me.

6. What is your excitement level for WWE Backlash.

Maybe a 6 or even a 7. We’re just barely a month away from Wrestlemania and then we had the whole “Greatest Royal Rumble” event and now there is this and it’s just too much too quickly for my tastes. It’s a solid show with some good matches and I’m sure that it’ll be fun to watch and exciting and all of that, but between these shows, RAW, Smackdown and the occasional ROH show and of course The Network, that’s a lot of wrestling each week. I know that once I start watching tonight, I’ll be into it more, but right now, it’s just not all that for me.

And there you go. Comments and thoughts welcome and appreciated. Until the next time friends, take care and stay safe. I’ll catch you later.

Ubuntu!
