Wrestling FoF: Summerslam, AOP, Matt Riddle and More… – August 5, 2018

Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
Summerslam, AOP, Matt Riddle & More
August 5, 2018

It’s Fact or Fiction, the wrestling edition. The statements are courtesy of my good friends over at 411mania.com/wrestling. And I’m the man with all the answers. Let’s do this…

1. How excited are you for the 2018 Mae Young Classic?

Probably about a 6 out of 10 or maybe even a 7. I’m not as excited as I should be because I know I won’t have time to sit and watch all of the event and will have to go back on Ther Network to watch select parts. I know it’s going to be good though and a great showcase for some of the top women in professional wrestling. If only I had more free time, but alas, I don’t. I’ll keep up on things though and look forward to seeing how things turn out.

2. Main roster stars like Tyler Breeze, with nothing to do, popping up and working NXT live events is a great idea.

FACT: It’s a great idea and I’m surprised that WWE doesn’t do it more often. It gives the NXT fans an extra bonus by allowing them to see the main roster stars. It gives the wrestlers a chance to work events and keep themselves active and in the public eye. It gives the younger talent a chance to work with some WWE veterans. It’s win-win all around and a great way to use talent that otherwise is just wasting time taking up space.

3. The Drew Gulak vs. Cedric Alexander Cruiserweight title match will end up on the Summerslam pre-show.

FACT: It probably deserves better, but the 205 Live stars don’t get quite the push and recognition that the other talents do and I can’t see Vince putting this match anywhere else. It should be a good match and will get the fans fired up and going so while I personally feel that all title bouts should be on the main show, having this one on the Kickoff Show isn’t really a bad thing either. It just is what it is.

4. The Authors of Pain’s main roster run has been a disaster thus far.

FICTION: I won’t call it a disaster, but more of just a holding pattern until the so-called Creative Team of RAW can figure out exactly what to do with them and how to insert them into the tag team title picture. They’re not getting squashed and are getting some TV time battling the forces of Titus Worldwide whichis more than teams like Slater / Rhyno or The Ascension can say at the moment. There are just so many teams right now on the RAW roster that The AOP just needs to wait for their turn.

5. What is your most anticipated Summerslam match right now?

For me personally, it’s going to be seeing The B-Team of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, two men who have been long overlooked, defend the RAW Tag Team Titles against The Revival and whoever else, probably Matt & Bray, gets added over the next couple of weeks to this match. After that, it’s Carmella defending the Women’s Championship from Smackdown against Charlotte and Becky. That should be a fun match for the ladies. Watxhing Ronda Rousey take on Alexa Bliss should be fun and I guess that Roman and Brock will be a true slobber-knocker in every manner. Several good matches to look forward to, but I’ll put the B-Team match as my number one pick.

6. Matt Riddle is a great signing for WWE.

FACT: He’s got a great look, strong charisma, a solid background in wrestling and MMA and has an extra=large dose of that “It Factor” going for him as well. He has the talent and makings to be a huge star for WWE for many years to come and hasn’t yet even began to come close to reaching his full potential. This is a major big deal for WWE and a great signing. I’m glad to see it happening.

And there you go. Thoughts, comments, questions and anything else welcome. Let me know what you think. Thank you for reading and with that, I’ll catch you on the flip side. Stay safe and I’ll see you at the matches.
