Tossing Salt Presents:
TV / Movies Fact Or Fiction
Happytime Murders, Iron Fist & More…
August 24, 2018
It’s time to do that Fact or Fiction thing, the TV & movies edition. The statements come from the fine and friendly folks at 411mania.com. And the opinions that follow, that’s all me baby. Let’s do this…
The Happytime Murders looks like it will be better than your average Melissa McCarthy comedy.
FACT: I’m a big fan of muppets and that almost automatically puts this one in the “thumbs up” category. McCarthy is always good for a chuckle or two and her movies, while not great, are usually worth watching at least once. But it’s the Muppets that put it over the top for me. Bring it on.
Tom Cruise would be a terrible choice to play Hal Jordan in a Green Lantern Corps film.
FACT: If this had been twenty years ago, maybe so, but Tom is 56 years old and too damn short. Tom Cruise has name recognition and “star power”, but in today’s Hollyweird market, that doesn’t mean as much as it once did. Better to find someone younger and taller and who will be able to stick around for more movies if needed. I can’t see Cruise being more than a “one and done” on a role such as this one.
You’re on board for HBO’s Watchmen series.
FICTION: The film and graphic novel were both okay, but I’m just not into Watchmen all that much and have no interest in a regular series. There are far too many comic-themed series on television as it is and I’d rather spend my time watching the series about the characters I care about and know rather than this particular title.
It’s unfortunate that there are no plans for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars spin-off.
FICTION: More series to get all retro and make things more confusing than they already are in the Star Wars universe? No, thank you. Just continue with the franchise moving forward and let’s put all these prequels on the backburner for now.
The new Iron Fist season two trailer gives hope that the second season will be an improvement on the first.
FACT: Season 1 was okay, but hard to get into at times and didn’t quite connect as well as the other Marvel series on Netflix have, but it was getting better as it went along and seeing Danny (Iron Fist) pop up on Season 2 of Luke Cage gave me hope. If it’s this Iron Fist, then things should really step up a notch and be better. I’m looking forward to seeing what Season 2 has to offer.
A TV version of the video game Vampyr could be worth watching.
FACT: I’m not very familiar with the game, but I’m a big fan of the genre and anything that involves vamps is worth taking a look at if nothing else. So “could it be worth watching”? Absolutely. Could it suck big time? Again absolutely. But the only way to know is to actually see it and find out.
And there you go. Questions and comments are welcome and appreciated. Until the next time, take care and have a great one. Catch you later.
