Tossing Salt Presents:
The Conners, Big Bang Theory, CNN & More
August 26, 2018
It’s time for one more Q&A. I’m on a roll today and getting this backlog of questions cleared out. These come from my friends Kim and Jessie. It’s all about the small screen and Hollyweird. Let’s do this…
Do you think “The Conners” will be as successful as Roseanne was?
Part of me hopes that it is because I really enjoyed the show and this family and cast of characters and would like to seem them succeed, but I don’t really think so. I think that political correctness and the absence of the show’s creator and main star, Roseanne, will end up hurting it. I think that the first episode will do really well as everyone is tuning in to see how they’ll be writing off Roseanne and see how things have changed. The new viewers may stick around or may not, but I think the backlash from the Roseanne supporters will have an effect on the ratings.
Big Bang Theory has announced that it will be ending at the end of Season 12. Good or bad idea?
Good idea because after 12 seasons, it’s time to move on and let the actors do other things. And they’re leaving on their own terms and while still at the top of the ratings so that’s a great way to go.
Is CNN “fake news”?
If by “fake news”, you mean does CNN make up reports and present opinion as fact, ignoring items that don’t suit the agenda that they’re trying to push. Then the answer is a million times yes. And so do MSNBC and to a lesser extent, Fox, but for the other side. “News” and “journalism” is dead and now it’s all opinion and spin. It’s sad. Just sad!
Family Guy, South Park or The Simpsons?
All have their moments, but on a consistent basis, Family Guy is definitely the best of the three. Now, where is that paper boy at?
Would a variety show, something like the old Carol Burnett Show, work in today’s TV market?
I doubt it because the average TV viewer in the valued young person market isn’t smart enough to appreciate it and the ratings wouldn’t be there. I’ve love to see someone prove me wrong, but clean comedy mixed with musical numbers and sketches, it’s a dead art form unfortunately.
Are you glad that Michelle Wolf’s series on Netflix was cancelled?
I’m estatic. The bitch wasn’t funny to start off with, her voice wore on my nerves and she’s a stupid idiot who grew more obnoxious with each and every appearance. Good riddance to the Kathy Griffin wannabe.
And that’s all of that for now. My thanks for reading. Any comments, questions or thoughts, please feel free to speak and let me know. Until the next time, turn off that TV and go to the local Indy wrestling show. You’ll be glad you did. Take care.
