Tossing Salt Presents:
Wrestling Fact or Fiction
Brie Bella, Mia Yim, Rey Mysterio & More
September 30, 2018
Another Fact or Fiction? You’re damn skippy. This comes from my long time close and personal friends over at 411mania.com/wrestling. It’s Bella and Mysterio and Nikki Cross and so much more. Let’s do this…
1. Brie Bella has been a reckless worker since returning to action.
FACT: Brie has never been a great wrestler, but her botches as of late have reached almost epic proportion. In just the past couple of weeks, there have been mishaps against Zelina Vega, The Miz, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and of course, her two botched “suicide dives” where they almost became literal. A lot of this is due to ring rust and maybe rushing to return to action after having a baby, but the mistakes are adding up and someone eventually is going to be seriously hurt unless Brie ups her game and training. It’s not just Brie and in the Liv Morgan incident, she, as well as the referee made mistakes as well, but the majority of the problems lie with Brie and she needs to work on her in-ring training and improve before she hurts anyone else again.
2. Nikki Cross will be called up to the main roster by the end of 2018.
FICTION: It’s rare that WWE calls up anyone from NXT up to the main roster this late in the year unless there are plans for that person in a Wrestlemania program or something big like that. While it is entirely possible that we’ll see Nikki as part of the WWE Evolution event, I don’t think that we’ll be seeing her on the main roster until around next Spring at the earliest.
3. Rey Mysterio will be positioned on Smackdown when he returns to WWE.
FICTION: While Smackdown is and has always been a better fit for Rey when he’s with WWE, I think the best place for him and the place he’ll end up working the most will be the 205 Live Roster. Rey is a smaller guy with a lot of name recognition and the 205 Live brand needs some names to help bring in the audiences and wow the crowds. While Rey may work the occasional spot on Raw or Smackdown, I think that when the smoke clears, it’s the land of the Cruiserweights where Rey will hang his hat and call home. They need him more than the other brands and it makes the most sense and as HHH is so fond of saying, it’s what’s best for business.
4. WWE made the right call signing Mia Yim.
FACT: Mia Yim is one of the best talents in the world and has really shined in the Mae Young Classic over the past two years, She’s a former Knockouts Champion, was a big star for SHINE and Full Impact Pro. This woman is good. Damn good! It’s not did WWE make the right call, but why did they wait so long to do it. A great move by the WWE with this move.
5. The booking of Andrade Cien Almas & Zelina Vega on the main roster has been a complete disappointment.
FICTION: Look how WWE treated The Ascension and Tye Dillinger when they made the move to the main roster? Look how they’re treating Eric Young and Sanity? Almas has had great matches against AJ Styles on television, gotten involved in the Miz – Daniel Bryan situation, had some battles against Rusev & Lana and now is gearing up for some battles against R-Truth and Carmella. He’s on TV and having great matches. That’s not bad at all and a good way to bide his time until one of the top spots opens up. I think that Almas and Vega are doing pretty well, all things considered.
6. What is your level of excitement for the WWE Super Show-Down event in Australia?
Right now, probably a 6 out of 10. I’m excited for the Taker / Kane deal with the reunited DX and of course Miz versus Daniel Bryan. This event has been called a “glorified house show” and maybe that is true, but the card is stacked from top to bottom and should be epic. As we get closer and I have more time to think about it, I’ll probably get more excited in anticipation, but for now, other things have priority. It should be one helluva show.
And that’s all for now. Thanks for reading. Comments, thoughts and any questions are welcome. Until the next time, take care and I’ll see you at the matches. Have a great one.
